:?: I am working for a car who is getting into the car business. he went to a auction and bought a 1990 grand prix STE. he said he would sell it to me for $1000. it's in good condition(motor wise fair codition interier wise) but the the computer says ck. abs and ck. fuel are these common problems? if so how do i fix them? and how much is it going to cost?
or should i bother getting this car?
I love the looks and the power. i took it for a test spin in the yard. i gunned it and it took 40-50 feet before it caught up with the wheels.
which of course made me want it. if you have any input do tell.

OK, the check fuel light is because of bad soldering. Most people also get the check gauges light with it.
The ABS light is probably because the ABS unit is shot. Can you hear the pump running continuosly under the hood?
These are both common problems with these cars. How many miles are on it?
I say buy it. I would.
my, check gauges and check fuel lights are usually on, my abs light stays on but it seems to work. The fix for the first two is on w-body.com, under common problems. Seems like a good price though, my tgp cost me that after i fixed it and i still have to repaint it. Good luck.
it has 116000 miles on it. I don't know what to listen for so i can't say weither or not the pump is always on. me and my dad stoped by a pontiac dealer. they said they would do a full check of the car for 65 dollars.

i'd get it checked out right away then, low milage, and if nothing is wrong your going to get a steal. Its probaly worth that as a parts car. I'd take it.

under the hood:
there might be a oil leak by the throttle hookup. thats all I see.
moter and tranny runs great. the brakes are hard like a brick but it doesn't
want to stop easily.the ck. abs and ck.fuel warnings come on and off on the computer screen. no smoke after warmup.
exterior:
it needs a new paint job for the fact the the both bumpers have marks on them(not that big of a deal).the headlights need to be cleaned somehow.
one highbeam don't work. the plastic behind two door handles is broke.
BTW it's a four door(which is the main reason I'm looking at it. I mean power and capacity :D ). the F L fender is alittle bent at the top. and the driver side mirror the plastic it's attached to is warped.
interior:
inside on alot of the buttons the plastic is broken. radio works(stock cd player) one speaker is bad the steering controls don't work.
a few of the electric seat functions don't work. one crack in the dash by the right front speaker about 2 inches. the steering wheel leather is peeling off on top. the carpet is alttle stained on driver side. all gauges work. thats about it.it's grey cloth.

It's white. no sunroof. hud?? it has the computer inbetween the seats.
I'm hoping to get paid monday then I'll be taking it to the dealer. have them check it out. but with the other guy buying one for $3000 with 141k miles on it. I can see what a deal this is. the brakes are in the same condition i think.
