Title: Prolly the most retarded question...
Post by: Prospeeder on March 24, 2006, 07:27:03 PM
Ok this is prolly the most retarded question EVER, but you know the little plastic screw doo dads that hold the liner in the trunk down, like you have to take it off the acsess the tail lights, well i changed a bulb, and low and hehold, i cant get them back ON they jsut break or strip or twist apart, WTF I even got like 5 J/Y ones and they all broke, HOW DO I GET THEM ON!!! AHHHHHHHHH Iv tried just finger threading them, screwdriver threading, just pushing them on like friction threads, NOTHING!!!

I always just twist them back on by hand. Haven't had one break on me yet. Are you putting the wing nut style for the netting on the wrong threaded stud? There is a thread all type stud and a quick screw thread stud for the retainers.

Other than that I haven't a clue what is wrong or why you are breaking them. :icon_cool:

The 2 that are giving me trouble are the 2 center ones, they just wont go on right without stripping out, breaking or twisting apart!

LMFAO,  did the same damn thing, when i bought my tgp, the passenger side tail light lense was broke to shit, was going to replace just that clear cover that was busted, but it looked  like it was just easier to remove the whole assembly so i got two of them from the jy and screwed them both up and put the correct nuts on the correct threads, just always break a couple, the plastic around the bolt cracks very easily and then the threaded stud falls out or turns freely,  i did this by tightening them carefully, but they have to be a certain tightness or they leave a huge ass gap between the tail light and the metal around the seal.  also every light i've seen has that ugly ass dry glue look around the edges,  the ones that i removed from opened trunk lids that are exposed to the moisture in the yard are usually worse, but even if they're closed and out of the weather, even my other side thats original still has it a little.

I know some people :icon_rolleyes: I just got this car thats got standing water in the trunk. Its from texas and they put a trailer hitch on it for some resason. all the tail light wiring got messed up and I had to fix it. It will look cool with a black jet ski or quad behind it I have to admit :icon_cool:
