Title: Hooray for repairs!
Post by: grinders_18 on March 30, 2006, 04:42:13 PM
Ok, so since I've gotten my TGP I've heard an increasingly loud thunking and at some speeds, my front end shakes...so I take her to the shop. Well, while there, we find out that my rack was loose. So we tighten it up and....argghhh... Long story short: Rack needs to be replaced. With the labor, parts, supplies, and new tie rods, it'll be $700.

I was just curious if anyone else has had this problem? Anything I can do in the future to prevent this? Thanks alot!

Double K.

Shit that was when I first bought the car. That was replaced immediately. Clunking stopped after the rack was replaced, upper and lower engine mounts were replaced, tranny mount was replaced, modulator valve was installed........and new tranny lol.

If your car has the shuddering problems at various speeds, and clunks, they may be two seperate problems, also. Shuddering may just be tie rods, or tires out of balance, or just bad tires. Clunking could be mounts. If you plan to keep these cars, do yourself a favor and get them changed. Saves you headaches.
