Title: Exhaust Gas Temps At Crossover/Turbo Connection
Post by: Invasion1 on April 11, 2006, 05:24:35 PM
Any Idea whats normal for the EGT to be where the Crossover and Turbo mount up?

My EGT gauge is programable and you can set a warning and alarm if it reads hotter than programmed.

my EGT sensor in in the neck of the Crossover just before the turbo and wanna get an idea what to set the warning to.

Range: 0- 1600?F or 0- 870?C

Well, it depends on lots of factors....

Light/Cruising?  Full Throttle?  Idle?

My engine is far from stock and has a turbo ground cam so its probably higher than you will get.  If I remember correctly though, when I was running it in the '88 Beretta with the Haltech, I think I had it around 700-800* at idle, like 1250-1350* during cruise and around 1000-1150 for full throttle, I think....not exactly checking out an EGT gauge at full throttle, eyes on the road ya know.....It seemed way high to me, especially consider our Trans-Am was idling at like 300-500* and only like 600-800* cruising.....

Hey no problem, if I could get my hands on an A-pillar gauge pod, since I have 0 skills in fiberglassing, then I could actually get my gauges back in.  Kinda sucks have $250 worth of gauges just chillin for 2 years on the bench.  I have the MAP sensor for the boost gauge all wired up and everything already in the car, just need the gauge in there and moutned :( Oh how I wish I could stumble upon one, its quite interested watching the EGT gauge move up and down as you drive about
