Title: 5-speed guys
Post by: twinturbosedan on May 05, 2006, 02:04:24 PM
Kenny or Dave...i was wondering if you guys could take a look at your clutch switch and tell me how many wires are coming out of it?

mine is 2-wire and is only used to turn off the CC when the clutch is pushed.  another guy on W-body forum mentioned that his is 4-wire and the other two wires are used to sense load on the transmission and keep the RPMs from rising when you shift (a problem that i am having).  i'm also wondering if this has something to do with the bucking issue or surging idle i am having.  do i have the wrong switch in the car?

just trying to track down the cause of the problem.  thanks

i don't have mine connected but the big block one under the clutch pedal has 2 heavy gauge yellow wires and thats it.

also i don't have my Cruise connected ether but the one from the brake pedal is a vac line to turn off the Cruise and the one for the clutch to deactivate the Cruise looks the same but has 2 wires comming out of it....

i have them all but none are hooked up.....

Mine is not hooked up either. Dave is right about the vac line for the CC though. :icon_cool:

wiring it up is pretty easy.  there are just two wires coming out of the switch - one brown wire and one brown/white wire.  if you look under the dash you'll see a brown wire that goes to pin 'G' on the CC module (the black 3" x 5" box in front of where the switch goes).  cut that wire and splice on the brown wire coming from the switch.  now splice the brown/white wire onto the brown wire going to pin 'G' on the CC module.  walla - cruise control turns off when you press the clutch in.

what confuses me is that this other guy has a 4-wire switch.  i'm kinda wondering if i have the wrong switch and maybe wiring it up correctly will solve some problems.
