I just got a 1990 TGP but I didn't get a remote with it. I was just wondering if Keyless Entry is stock? And if it is, where can i get a remote for it?
I'm not sure if it was stock. Are you sure it has it? If it does you can pick up remotes on ebay.
How can I check if it has Keyless Entry?
According to the list of info at http://gmsonline.com/tgp/viewtopic.php?t=5 keyless entry is stock on the TGP. It is my understanding that it is in the trunk, under the deck. Unfortunately mine was ripped out before I got the car and hopefully I have one on the way from a parts car.
If the box is there, you are supposed to be able to use any TRW remote from GM cars, and ground a (green??) wire on the box, when it quits cycling, klick a button on the remote, unground the wire, and and it should now work from that remote.
(be sure you don't have all your keys in the car when you do this, if the locks happen to only lock, not unlock, then you're locked out :( )
It is under the deck but it is between the two layers and can only be seen after taker off the rear deck cover. Look under the antenna and there will be a single wire coming out of the wire loom. Ground that wire and the locks should cycle if all works right. Then hit a button on the remote after they cycle. Then they should cycle again. Then unhook the ground wire and your done. If nothing happens when you ground the wire your box is either in need of soldering or not there.
If you look on your GM PARTS ID Label, it will have the part code of AU0, go to the GM dealer and get the key fob for the AU0 rke module..

Ok, well I know that I have one in my car, but I'm almost positive that it needs repair or replacement. If I were to solder it, what would I be looking for, any specific areas? And does anyone know what year recievers will be compatible with these cars? None of the yards around here look up small components, just major ones. I assume its prolly rare. Anyway, thanks.

Thank you very much. :D
Not a problem.
Took the receiver to my buddy's shop, he resoldered all the trasistors. I put it back in, grounded it, and wha-la, it cycled the locks! :spin:
Now all I have to do is get a remote..
