Title: gutted Cat & replaced FPR
Post by: GPChief on May 30, 2006, 03:00:15 AM
This weekend I was able to work on my car, I gutted the Cat, it was 3/4 clogged.  I also replaced the FPR & EGR.  What a difference no idle issues going up and down - just smooth :icon_biggrin:

Just curious, after others have done this did boost go down? I am only seeing 4 LBS now.

With the increased exhaust flow you are probably taxing the W/G actuator to a point it is opening from backpressure. ONLY AS A TEST...wire the Wastegate closed with some Military Spec safety wire ;) and see if your boost increases.

If it does increase then check how are you running the pressure line to the W/G solenoid and actuator? 4 lbs is what the wastegate actuator preload is. I have never checked...but maybe the solenoid is normally open and you did not plug it back in allowing for free flow through the solenoid back to the actuator?

This A.M. driving to work I hit full boost.  Ran the rest of the storage fuel out of it yesterday and found a shell station that sold 92 octane and filled it up.  I fugure it was the old gas & sitting for a year and a half.

Maybe she was still sleepy when you first drove it...now she is awake and ready to go! ;)
