Your gonna half to pull off the steering wheel. Then next you'll half to move the turn signal stuff out of the way(should be a few torx bit screws)Once you get to the tumbler it should be held in by a 8mm bolt.Remove the bolt and pull the tumbler out.You will need basic tools and a steering wheel puller and it will take a few if not 4 hrs.Good luck...Adam

When you remove the cylinder the tumblers will be spring loaded underneath of a small metal clip that allows the tumblers to move.  There are 4 different numbers on ignition cylinders, all easily removed with a small enough pic.  Make sure that when you remove each tumbler you keep it in a certain easy to remember order, and write it down 3,2,2,1, etc, so they go back in correctly thus allowing the key to turn the ignition.  There should be 8 tumblers, I think.  I don't know exactly what cylinder you have but they should all be on one side.

Make sure you replace the hold down clips and the springs, and probably the tumblers as well.  They are all labeled with a certain number or code, and you may even be able to get that lay out from the dealer, I dont know for sure.  When you are done removing the tumblers spray that cylinder out with brake cleaner and some air to remove and particles and gummy shit that makes them stick, then reinstall and you should be good to go.

if you keep track of the tumbler numbers and the order that they come out of the cylinder you wont need to have new keys.  You can always just take it to a locksmith, have them remove the tumblers, clean the cylinder, and then reinstall new tumblers coded to your old key.

I would just buy a new lockset from advanced/autozone. As flybynite said its cheaper, and its a complete unit with 2 new keys. It also comes with a keycode tag so if you loose them, you can get a duplicate set made.

Pull steering wheel controls off (if you have them), unplug them and set aside, unplug horn plug, remove retainer ring and nut, remove steering wheel, carefully remove plastic inner ring (I dont remember how this is done), remove turn signal assembly, tilt the steering wheel all the way down for easy access, EDIT in the bottom right you will see a ring with a square hole in it, take a screwdriver that the tips fits in the hole, the the rest of the blade doesnt, push in and turn and slowly pull out. There is a spring behind this screw for the tilt steering END EDIT, in the bottom right you will see a screw, mine was a torx, others have mentioned a other type of screw, remove screw, carefully pull out ignition key set assembly but dont take out, there will be a small 2 wire plug that has to be unplugged for the little "hey idiot, you left your keys in the ignition" dinger. Once unplugged, remove lock and slide in new unit. You might have to play with the new unit to get it to take the screw that holds it in. I never managed to get mine to take all the threads, but its down as far as I could go. Test unit, checking for key dinger, turn back (acc), key foward ignition off, key foward ignition on, key foward start car, return to key foward ignition off, and then key out and off, steering wheel lock (will have to gently put steering wheel on for this). Once all actions are confirmed then you can take the steering wheel back off, and start reasembling everything, but in the reverse order. Thats pretty much the breakdown. I had it done in about 1 hour after I practiced on a junkyard donor car (and you will also realize how easy these cars are to steal). Goood Luck...

wow, I just got back from the locksmith. $15 to do a recode of the trunk tumbler. they matched it up with my original key and put on a new bezel. Its gonna be more to do a ignition tumbler. I would probably buy a nice new one anyway, but J/Y would be alright too.

should be a small torx on the lower right hand corner. it might even be a phillips. but its definetly on the lower right hand corner in line with the ignition lock set. told ya it would be pretty quick.
