I'm at work and my phone rings. Get my phone out and look at it and its my dad. Hrmmm....thats kinda wierd. (we don't usually talk to each other on the phone much) So i pick up the phone of course: (summarized it to get rid of unnecessary stuff)
he says: "You don't know anyone looking for a non-drivable TGP do you?"
me: "ummm.....no but I can post it on the forums....why?"
him: "well.....I was kinda driving down the road today right.....and this car in front of me slams on the brakes right.....so I slam on the brakes and the car makes a nice creaking noise and all the sudden I can't steer"
me: "ummm.....yeah and?"
him: "so then I hear something dragging on the ground and luckily the car steered itself right into a parking lot and then I had it towed home"
me: "so what the hell happened?"
him: "well...the cradle kinda fell out"
me: "ummmm.....wtf? I guess i can look at it next time i go home"
So the last time I went home I looked at it and the rear nuts that are up in the frame actually pulled through the frame and the cradle is only supported by the front. I figured either the cradle had rotted through (once again) and would have to be repaired or the bolts broke...but of course I was wrong. So fixing it will be a little bit harder than I expected but shouldn't be too bad. Hopefully it didn't damage the ps rack.
Luckily my dad still has his GTP to drive everyday so hes not out of a car but hes not to happy about this anyways. It could've been a lot worse though and he could've gotten in a pretty serious accident.
Thats Poor!!!!
So is he selling it due to that matter?

At the time he was just frustrated/pissed off about the car. He doesn't really want to sell it right now that I know of. However, I know he will be wanting to sell it sometime in the next year. Its been his "beater" for over 3 years now and its about time to get a new one.
I know he's arranging to get it fixed right now so he can drive it. He really hates driving his GTP in the rain. :icon_rolleyes:
me... I am just the opposite. the gtp would be the beater. or Id put the tgp emblems on it eventually after it earned them.

His GTP runs 11.9's and is rarer than his TGP (40th anniversary edition) so thats why he uses the TGP as a beater. Plus the TGP was way cheaper and isn't as nice. His GTP had probably only seen rain a handful of times before the TGP broke. Its only seen snow once, and that was when the sunroof decided to fly out of the TGP, 2 winters ago IIRC. He had to drive the GTP like 50 miles to a salvage yard to get a sunroof for it. He sprayed the underside of the car off at a carwash for like a half hour after that. :icon_lol:
Anyways, I'll try to get pics of the repair (before, after, and during) and let you know how it holds up.
can i ask whats in his GTP....... 11.9 is dam quick
Looked at it a little closer now. The passenger front cradle bolt broke off. The passenger rear cradle bolt broke off. The drivers rear cradle nut pulled through the frame and is still attached to the cradle with the bolt and bushings and whatnot. The drivers front is still completely there though. So basically we have to drill out the two broken bolts and try to re-tap the threads up in there, and then we have to weld a new nut to a plate and weld that up to the frame on the drivers side rear to fix that. Then we can get all new bolts and bushings and put it all back together and it will be driveable.

All the usual L67 stuff....
ZZP Stage 2 Intercooler
XP Cam, 85lb. valvesprings, OR pushrods
Ceramic Coated TOG Headers
ZZP Stage 4 M90
ZZP Stage 2 Throttle Body
Ported Lower Intake
3.29 gears
2500 stall
Custom DHP PCM
Electric Water Pump
160 degree thermostat
Autolite AR103 plugs
2.55" pulley
etc......
All the usual stuff. The car has 11.6's in it with traction. It gets almost 30mpg on the freeway and gets high teens around town. Idling you can't even tell it has a cam in it, and its a 4 door sunroof car that appearance wise looks virtually stock. :icon_twisted:
