Title: Oil smoke after long time...
Post by: Prospeeder on July 03, 2006, 11:50:36 PM
Well I finally put my trans cooler on and started it, its been over 2 months, mabye 3, and it started then sputterd badly and tried to hang 450-500 rpms and then died, i started it and it had a shaky idle bouncing from 600-1000 then it leveled out and it was blowing blue smoke out the tail pipes, and oil smoke was coming from the turbo area, nice and blue and stinky. After id says 3 minutes it all stopped and it the car ran great and not a hint of smoke on any acceleration or anything, wierd, is it common for this to happen when it hasnt been started for a long time? Or is my turbo about dead, lol I didnt expect to do a rebuild this soon.

Sitting is the worst thing for cars.

Sitting for a long time and getting smoke is not all that uncommon with high mileage cars. If you have injectors that are leaking, valve stem seals leaking, rings that needed time to get recoated to seal the combustion chamber, etc.

If the smoking returns then you will want to look at the turbo seals...but my concern would be that you have leaking injectors and you have thinned out your oil. You may want to look into that.

Your most likley correct on the leaking injectors. And its only got 73k on it, i dunno if thats high mileage. Ill go check the oil then

If you know there is gas in the oil...DO NOT RUN IT! It is thinned out and will cause major havoc! :icon_cool:
