Title: What's a common price for these cars???
Post by: TGPTONY on July 04, 2006, 07:56:38 AM
To all,
I realized this weekend that I really do need to sell my 90 Grand Prix.  The problem is the Kelly Blue Book price.  I would say that my car is between good and excellent condition, but even the excellent rating is showing just under $1,800.  I will post it for sale here with pics, but I need to put a price as per forum rules.  I just want an honest sale, but I need to know what these go for in excellent condidtion....

Thank you,
Tony from NJ

depends on:

Color
options (sunroof, CD player etc etc)
Milage
does the ABS work?
what needs to be replaced?

need more info to get you a better asking price for it.

I am the original owner
87,000 miles
ABS works fine
interior is nearly mint, if not mint
exterior is great shape- minor dings here and there, but she looks awesome when washed\waxed
tires great shape
brakes great shape- new rotors\pads in front about 1000 miles ago
new radiator about 2 1\2 years or so ago
I have all reciepts- so much to list - let me get to known issues

Only issues:
driver window regulator is bad- I think, window comes down a little and stops.  The switch tests fine

the gas gauge empty light stays on and sometimes the check gauges blinks- I hear that this is a simple fix for like $20 if you send it out to get soldered- It never really bothered me.  The actual gas gauge works fine.

The power antenna is broken- Anther cheap and easy fix.

Otherwise this car is very solid.  I did add the Jeff M driveability chip- best thing I ever bought and a very tasteful rear spoiler.  The only reason for the sale is the fact that a rear facing childseat is a PITA to work with.  I am looking to buy a 4 door sedan.

The car was garage kept its entire life, and babied.  It does hurt to sell it as you all would know.  I will try to post pics here and will post on ebay as a last resort.

Pics to follow in next reply

Very Nice Car

I would say 2000 to 2500 wouldn't be far off to ask.

one like that would get close to 3000 on ebay from what i have seen in the past.

OK, thanks....It seems hard to swallow to let a car that is so nice go for so low.  I guess I will shoot for $2800.00 or best reasonable offer here first.  Ebay will be next, but I rather sell it to somebody who would appreciate it....

Thank you,
Tony

I'll have to agree with Davis, it shouldn't be very hard to get $3K or so for that car. Hopefully it goes to someone who will take the same good care of it. :icon_cool: Good luck selling it.

Thanks....I do hope it goes to a good home.  I actually feel really bad about selling it.  It like losing a pet....

that would be a good buy. drive around in a brand new TGP that someone paid almost $30,000 for.

forsure and i was seriously intrested but the guy was difficult to deal with and sent me alot of pics..........from a camera phone and they were all so small i couldn't see them.

told him to buy a digital camera and take some real pics if he wants to sell a $9000 US dollar car and he never responded further.

I remember that guy. There was a 9,000 mile TGP listed on autotrader the other day that was in the midwest if I recall correctly, price was unlisted on it. I looked two days later for the listing so I could call and check the price on it and it was no longer listed. :icon_redface:

Theres maybe a hand full of mint TGPs. I would say you could sell it to a car collector that loves GN, Sy/tys and that sort for more. Especially someone with a GNX. Owning two McLarens would get him going.
At $3k...its good. Thats way less than getting a fixer upper to the same shape.

I lowered the price to $ 2500......

You up for a road trip at that price? I will be in Lexington KY in about 2 weeks to pick up my dyno... ;)

I will need more detailed pictures of the car. Detailed pictures of the "dings". Interior all around to include headliner, seat sides, carpet, etc. Exterior to include wheel wells (rust?). Also under the car frame rails, front subframe and bolt positions, and around the gas tank area. I am deathly afraid to purchase anything from the New England area as I lived in Northern New York for 20 years of my life and I know what salt does to a car.

The window tinting in the pics looks purple?

Do all functions of the seats, cruise, A/C, etc work? Need a list of what is not working properly even if you think it is a minute issue.

Send all info and pictures to kenneth.kouba@mfmllc.com

Thanks much!

Don't count your 610 chickens until they hatch. ;) Yo udo not know for sure if that is all it needs to be a perfect driver car until you drive it for a few weeks.

I am not up for a road trip, but the interior is mint, everything works, no hanging headliner, no rust on the car anywere(always garage kept).  The window tint is BLACK not slightest hint of any other color, especially purple.  This car was not owed by an old lady, but my wife did drive it for the last eight years.  IT HAS NEVER EVER BEEN BEAT ON........Tony 732-770-5155
