Title: Oily smoke at idle
Post by: TGPRobNY on September 23, 2002, 07:31:46 AM
I have a stock TGP and it has amazing performance. I have a totally hollowed out cat also. I have replaced the oil return line a couple of months ago thinking this may cure the problem. I will check a few spark plugs for oil residue also. The smoke only appears at idle and not upon acceleration. When I stop at a light, it appears and quite embarrasing. The car has 70k miles and would it need valve seals/guides ? Other than this problem this car is extremely fast. Your help as in the past, is most appreciated. Rob

Bad head gaskets, I did a chem. test and found out there's a bit o CO2 in the coolant. Doing a head job and N2O instal soon.

Bad turbo seal leaking oil into the exhaust housing?

Yes thats what I'm thinking...the side hose came off one day , the one from the intercooler(gues I forgot to retighten it well) and noticed drops of oil coming out from the turbo housing so this is my current theory. Upon start up in the morning..its fine...and pulled a few plugs also and they appear normal as well. Thanks again, Rob
