Title: Back and in one piece
Post by: Invasion1 on July 19, 2006, 03:53:34 PM
well had some really bad thunder storms and severe weather the last few days and the power was out for 3 days here.

lots of damage south of me and east but not anything serious in my area, except for the NO electricity which was a royal pain....

anyway just a update for those who were missing me... ;)

I was beginning to wonder where you were. We have had some pretty strong storms around here also over the last few weeks. Dry as a bone for 2 or near 3 months and nothing but heavy rain for a week.

Glad to hear you are ok!

Power is still out in sections around here and in some of the towns south of here.

boats flipped over and even a float plane was blown over on a lake.

all in about 30mins of winds

Power outages suck! The longest I've ever been without power that I can remember was about 15hrs. I think we're supposed to have stormy weather all week here. :icon_frown: Looks like I'm going to have to clean my car inside the garage and not drive it until next week to keep it clean.

That is the nice thing about Colorado Springs newer areas...everything is under ground except the sub-stations. They have a serious lightning protection net around all of them. We had a storm the other night which registered more than 1000 strikes in the area and not a moment of lost power. Now out here I have lost 4 NIC cards in computers before I got a surge supressor for all outlets and telephone jacks.

We had some massive storms out here as well recently. 1/2 of the population of the St Louis Metro area was out. about 500,000 are still without power now. We live in a newer comunity, and out power only flickered a couple times.

The storms here registered some 8700 lightning strikes in a hour. Straight line winds of 92 MPH. Knocked down a couple buildings. Closed one river bridge. Ripped part of the roof off the airport. Spawned tornados over in Illinious (SP). One touched down at a military base. The have declared the St Louis area a disaster area and have evacuated alot of people.
