my center section is toast. So far Phoenix turbo is the cheapest for a new, not re-manned. At 799. Any cheapper sources would be appreciated
$800 for a NEW T-25 is about he cheapest I have seen. I think I would step up a couple hundred dollars for at least a T-28 hybrid. At least then you can increase HP some if you chose in the future.
If your any good with tools try to rebuild it yourself. You can get a repair kit off ebay($60-$100) and if your turbine shaft and or compressor wheel are bad you can by brand new balanced sets(150-250).Or you can buy a t3 and mill down the exhaust side of the center section to fit the t25 housing(20mm or so)Then bore out the the t25 turbine housing to fit the larger t3 turbine wheel. The wheel I'm using has a inducer of 65mm or 2.5 inches and exducer of 50mm 1.9 inches. The stock t25 turbine wheel inducer is 53mm or 2.09 inches and the exducer is 41.7mm or 1.64 inches..So with the larger turbine wheel combined with the larger 16g compressor wheel and matching .42 ar housing I'll be replacing another tranny soon. :laugh:Not to mention with the t3 center section upgrades are infinite. If you decided to go with the t3 be carefull and make sure you have a good machinist because t3 center sections and t25 exhaust housings are not cheap.Good luck..Adam
Why not just save up a few more $ and get a GT2871R or so like was mentioned previously?
Yea probably right.I just took a bunch of stuff I had laying around and made something out of it.Now that I think about it you would be better off buying a new one although It only cost me the price of the repair kit and the machine work.Less than $250 all togeather but like I said I had tons of parts to work with. This mod is for DIY kinda guy who hates paying outrageous prices for stuff(chips, turbos, engine repair,etc...)so if you have a t3(my center section was off a GN)you can make it work.Later...Adam
thats bad ass. I was thinking about trying that. so should I look for a stock GN turbo from e-bay and just go from there? thanks for the info, I gotta have some more boost here pretty soon. jonesing.
i wanted a dirrect replacement, so that i didn't have to change the fittment. i believe the t-25 is my only option.
<<< has the gt2871r--- no mods needed to bolt right up
 replacing our t28 with the same thing is out of this world. If you want it rebuilt talk to Dave (invasion) but now a days you can get a gt28 bb for near the same price, 700 up. Look around and there some deals out there. Google is you best friend when looking for something like this.
I think Dave wanted to keep his stock but he didn't pay anything like 700 for his two rebuilds. Pm him or post, He will give you the skinny.

They can make you a slipper to lock up at any rpm you want. If I was running any kind of stick shift on the strip in any kind of car I would have one. Dont know how they manage with a 3600# car and adjustment could be a bitch. Ask them.

i finally got my new turbo installed, it was worth every dime. the GT2876RLS is a really good choice. the only bad thing was i had to move the battery to the trunk, and replumb all lines coming into it. it spools up about 2200 rpm and at around 10 psi it is still a caged animal. the turbo was $1060, and the w/g actuator was $81. all together i think i have roughly $1500 in parts and accessories(wires, plugs, k&n, 4" intake pipe, silicone boots, and plumbing supplies).

I'm curious as to why you went with that big of turbo? Did you do the math to decide it was a good choice? What engine combo you running? Oh and what computer tuning/fuel injectors you running?
im into drag racing alot, and it will still build boost while staged. i did all of the math on the compressor maps, i knew what it was gonna do when i ordered it. right now i am all stock other than the turbo, air intake, and fuel pump. the only reason i changed the fuel pump was because the stock one gave out at 200k miles, so i figuered future planning. the people at precision turbo told me that with 37-42#/hr injectors, 3 bar map sensor, and computer tuning the engine would make 400 hp at the crank easily. :icon_twisted:
 bye bye t460-HD
good luck man..... get those injectors upgraded pronto
