Title: 1900 STE Turbo Parts or Parts Car?
Post by: firehawk343 on July 31, 2006, 01:07:10 AM
I have a 1990 STE Turbo 2 owner car with a slight fender bender front left corner.  Battery and radiator are still good and it drives.

I was wanting some opinions if I should sell if on ebay as a whole car, or if there would be better money in parting out the STE specific items like turbo, decals, lights, ...etc seperately.  Does anyone know what the components are worth? or if any are big ticket items  I am thinking I may get up to 1000 if I am really lucky and someone wants the whole thing for a parts car.

Thanks John

where are you located?

i'm kind of in the same boat, although mine has different issues (paint).  i've basically decided to part it out but haven't tried to sell much of anything yet.

You say slight fender bender, but at the same time, you make it sound like a parts car.  Is the damage bad?  I mean, if it's fairly easy to repair, I'd sell it as a whole simply because the number of these cars still out there is dwindling at a rapid rate.  I'd imagine you're not a fan of someone tearing apart a Firehawk for parts, unless it was completely trashed/totalled to the point that it wasn't economically feasible to restore it.  Same applies here.  I'd venture to say most TGP/TSTE owners aren't going to be to fond of the idea of tearing down another car that only 1,000 were made of.  But in the end, it's your car, and your call.  Just something to take into consideration when making your final decision.

yeah, that's why i was wanting to know where he is located.  maybe i could use mine as a parts car to fix this one.  after re-reading my first post it kinda sounded like i was trying to hijack this thread to sell my own parts but that wasn't my intention.  if he was close enough and the car was driveable it's something i would consider buying.  i just don't really want to fix-up my own because a paint job is just way too expensive....hell...it would be more than the value of the car.

If you do decide to part it out, how much you would want for all the turbo specific parts. I'd want everything I'd need to put a turbo on my 2.8.  I'd like the complete motor, but shipping would probably kill the deal depending on where you're located.  Let me know if you'd want to part it out, and how much you'd want for it all.  Thanks,

Kyle

Is the interior leather?

Doest it have the CD player?

Does it have the DIC inthe center?

I would be interested in all of these items if you part it out.

Turbo Sedan - I am in Oklahoma City Oklahoma.  I agree it would be a shame to part out a collector car like that, I will probably list it on Ebay and see if someone wants to take that on as a project.  I could fix it myself, but I am not a painter and that gets expensive.

It has the upgraded stereo system with gain control in driver door, trip computer, sunroof, steerwheel radio controls, leather interior(slightly worn), eight position electric adjustable seats with lumbar air feed supports.  The damage is not bad just fender, headlight(Not STE specific centerpiece), maybe a couple brackets hood is bend but louvered turbo grilles are good (a few pre-existing cracks).  It has some wear and tear, but the motor tranny turbo have never been rebuilt with 200,000 miles on them, all origional pieces are there and unmolested.  2 owner car with my girlfriend being the second owner since about 92-93.  I will post plenty of pictures and description of what I know is wrong on ebay.  If I can't get a decent price, I suppose as last resort I can part it out to some people who need these hard to find parts.  Thanks for your feedback, I agree with what most everyone said

Thanks,

If you're interested in parting it out, what would you ask for the radiator?

FWIW, the only 3 options available on a TSTE were leather, sunroof, and CD player.  All the other stuff, like the 8 billion way seats, gain control, power windows, locks, keyless entry, steering wheel controls, trip computer, etc......, were all standard.

Is there any way you could post pictures of the car up on here?  If not could you possibly email them to me?  Also, is this a white car or maroon?

Thanks!

Shawn
