Would it last?
I assume I am near 300 WHP, and about the same for tq.
I REALLY want an automatic...
Comments.
Talk to TGTU about what he has done to his 3spd.....one suggestion
I dunno how well a Cavalier would like a 4spd, or I would say custom swap a 4T65E-HD with a controller....that will...
It seems like the guys with autos want manuals and vice versa. Why wouldn't a Cavalier like a 4spd auto? He has to burn a custom chip for his setup anyways :dunno:
I like my automatic, I just want a stronger one
Since we have Berettas and done engine swaps and what not, and that they are so similar to a Cavalier, I don't see as why it would really need one, considering how much lighter it would weigh than a TGP, considering they are what already 300-400+ pounds lighter as is, why drop in overkill of a transmission which, well, probably won't take 300WHP very well in the end. So a 3T60 would probably be the best bet UNLESS, the 4T65 like I suggested since it will more than likely be able to handle the 300+WHP no problem, just requires that extra controller. I don't see as even wasting the effort for a 4T60 swap, considering how little of an aftermarket they have. :icon_rolleyes: The 3 can atleast have some put into it, like TGTU is doing. Plus, the fewer amounts of moving parts.
Mars, I think you're making ~260whp tops if you're still only trapping 110.8mph. A 440T4/4T60 probably wouldn't last very long, especially if you ever take it to the track on anything other than your regular street radials. If I were in your shoes, I would probably do a custom 4T65-E HD swap like Brian suggested. A stock 65-E HD should last you a while being that your car isn't nearly as heft as a W-body. It would be a good idea to upgrade the transaxle(input shaft, torque converter, etc.) later on if you plan on making some passes at the track w/ drag radials or slicks installed.
Where can I get more info on this electronic tranny controller?
Would that enable me to shift gears via a button, or like paddles on the new G6? ohh that would be cool. :icon_biggrin:
