Title: Remaining Bugs.
Post by: killinprixs on October 12, 2006, 08:39:34 PM
The shift point on the tach seems to go way off the scale.   When i floor it and it shifts, the tach reading flys past 7000.   i know a 3.1 cant rev to 8000.  My guages also do not work.  No Temp, No Boost .  Primary fan is wired to a switch because of possible blown fan relay  (anything to do with guage?).  Also throws a code 43 for knock sensor , anyone know the significance of this code?  What does a bad knock sensor do?  Any help with my remaining bugs is much appreciated. Thanks A ton

Knock sensor may have failed or is unplugged/wiring bad. Hard to tell unless you investigate yourself.

The gauge clusters in these cars are known to go wiggy. Try to find yourself another guage cluster that you know is in working condition and go from there.

If you are are stock or corrected code set most likely the rev limiter has not been moved from 5895RPM. The chances of you spinning the motor that high and still feeling the car pulling is pretty much not possible. Most of these cars fall off power around 4700RPM.

Not saying it is a good idea to rap it till redline rev limiter...but you can be rest assured you are NOT running to 7000RPM. ;)

thanks Pilot.  ok i should replace knock sensor.    Is there anyway to mechanically hook up a boost gauge to somewhere?  or an electronic temp gauge?  Tach is wacky...  It knows the shift point but doesnt appear that it does on the tach...  thank you. any help is appreciated.

Someone show him the vid of my TGP doing that 0-120 run. That will show him that its pretty common, and that for some reason the TGP have what someone called "dualing needles". I think my tach shows shifting at about 13000 RPM. Which obviously, unless someone installed a rotary engine, my car doesnt do.
