Post by: one_fast_prix on October 19, 2006, 11:18:03 AM
does anyone know offhand what the setpoints for the fan are on a 160* tstat?

It is programmed into the chips code.  If you change the thermostat temp without tuning the chip it will never reach the proper temperature and run rich as it would when warming up.  The fan setpoints are really high on the stock chip, near 200* and secondary is even higher, maybe 210*.  Are you swapping chips?

that's not what i asked.  i have a 160 tstat and are having someone burn me a tgp code for my cavalier and need to let him know the setpoints.

Well then you need to have the setpoints hover +10*F to turn on and -2 or 4*F to turn off.

Not every 160* Tstat is dead perfect 160* so some tweaking may be necessary.

Ask Jeff M what he sets his temps at if you want a more generalized answer.

Set the fans where ever you want them. The Tstat dosent really care when the fans come on and go off.   If your in a hot area set them low if you want to try and maintain 160*.

To maintain 160* without forward movement of the car is nearly impossible unless the ouside temp is in the 30*F area! The fans will run NON STOP and you will be replacing a fan much sooner than needed! ;)

i love where these topics end at.  lol.  that's not what i asked either.  i realize this.  all i want is the computer to be adjusted with a 160 tstat and needed the setpoints.  whether it's that easy or not i don't know.  i don't burn chips, just was trying to help him with the tstat because he has never messed with a cooler setup.
