Hey, havnt seen any post in a couple days, here it goes.
Ok you guys know when the car is in park or neutral and you rev it to the boards and the rev limiter bounces around 5000?... Sometimes the rev limiter doesnt work and the motor could go to into danger zone... i dont want this thing to blow, It gives a code for knock sensor i havnt done yet. could this be the problem ? How can a bad knock sensor affect performance? A side from taunting my buddys ss Cobalt and a GTP, this car isnt that fast. Im almost positive it used to spin the tires more a few weeks back. I need some tips to make this thing faster. Was thinking about trying to inject intercooler with Co2. How ofter should i replace plugs in this car? i think it has NKG plugs. Anyone know what kind of roller rockers to get this motor? Im also want to replace lifters and such. If i have the intake off , i might as well take the heads back off, rebuild turbo and all that good stuff, cap off dang EGR?
I also need to know what sensor is on the back head in the corner under the EGR valve area. Thanks for any help or tips.
a clogged fuel filter can actually cause the rev limiter to not work correctly...
also a good mod is the 1.6 rockers from a 3100... theres a write up here about them:

also did you get my pm about the turbo? you told me to send you one but i dont remember if i did.... anyways heres the info on that:

My knock sensor limited my boost, would only allow 4psi. Soon as I changed it, it return back to 11psi :icon_rolleyes:. I know nothing on the roller rockers :dunno:, but if your wastegate is still the original like mind than you probably have a leaky diaphram, so I put a manual boost controller on mind and some guys our putting springs on their wastegate arms to keep the gate closed so no leaky boost. You can try this maybe this can get you started. I'm going to get back to my 5speed swap :flamingdevil:.
Thanks for that rocker arm info kuntzie, i guess ill be looking for a 94- 95 3100. I do need a turbo but can probably only afford a stock one or rebuild. Sorry, i wish i could take that off your hands.
JImmy, does your car have a chip or something? i thought they were only suppose to have 7.5 psi. anyway , i hope replacing the knock sensor makes a difference.
Also, does anyone know what sensor is on the back head on the corner under the egr valve area? All i know is that its old and i want to replace it. ! anyone?
theres 2 coolant sensors, one is down there with the green wire.
What reason are you revving the motor so high for in park/neutral anyways?
The sensor on the back of the head is a coolant temperature sender for the temperature gauge on the instrument panel. If the gauge is working properly now, I wouldn't bother replacing it.
yes grandprixagain, I have jeff crossover & topgun 160 :icon_cool:. You gain a little on top end but you gain alot on low end :icon_twisted:. My 0 to 60 went from about 7.5s to 6.3s and was doing dawm good till my transmission started doing what it used to do when I bought, :motz2: wouldn't shift into second it just hang in first
OK thanks guys, i just replaced that temp sender and the gauge finally works now. very nice. The knock sensor was not even plugged in. the plug somehow broke off and was hanging, it wouldnt plug back in so i had to rig an adapter wire to plug it in. The car has so much more power now, the motor runs wicked hard ....hope she dont blow.... Is blowing these LG5s up easy?

Did you try adjusting/replacing the TV cable?
yea Gangstgp, I sure did more than twice. See I was still under a warranty when the technian did that job and then when warranty was out, he begin to tell me that I have a sticky valve and the only thing that will help, ( get ready to laugh) have someone torque break it in reverse while you pull in &out on the TV cable. :new_all_coholic: Please tell me you've heard this before.
If he adjusted it and it didnt fix it then thats 2 TV cable failures. yours and mine. I swear they strech out with all that heat from the turbo/x-over. Unless he didnt know the proper way to adjust one.
1. push on the black square button with a screwdriver until it clicks, hold.
2. open throttle plate by hand all the way open and release button.
A sticking valve could be your governor. It wont let the car upshift or downshift if its stuck and is very common with all trans... I have to do it to my 84 this weekend. Its easy to take out, clean with parts cleaner and clap in your hand a few times to make sure the valve thing is free, then pop back in. Just a thought.
Also Gangstgp, the technician says he remembers working on one of these vehicles before and said he went through hell to keep this from happening and still wound up in the shop. :icon_idea:. So this is all the information I need to do a 5-spped swap ,and believe me when I tell you (after $1400 later) I've got everything ready for it. plus two mechanics, well since one is a dodge will count him as a 1/2 :smilielol:
thats not what you call a "technician", its what you call a "pay you to f**k up my car" person
Hey, Im going to rebuild my topend while im installing new turbo. Anyone recommend bigger valves? My heads are not from a TGP, they're from a 2.8. Where can i get turbo 3.1 valve springs?? Also need 94-95 3100 rocker setup. My chip is stock but im going to upgrade after this. Thanks for any advice.

The 2.8 heads should have the same sized valves already. There is hardly ANY room for a valve upgrade on our heads. Turbo 3.1 valve springs should be identical the NA versions as well, we use the same exact camshaft. I would upgrade to the LS1/LS6 stock valve springs if you're going to replace the springs though.
This topic should have all the info you need for a spring swap. Use those part numbers and search around google, there are a lot of places that stock the LSX springs for cheap.

Mfewtrail, thanks a lot for the head info... another question for you guys- Is the TGP turbo the same as a T25 from a Eclipse or Talon? I need to know if all T25s have the same bolt pattern for the crossover and downpipe. Im looking at rebuilt T25s and dont want to get the wrong one. THanks
?
