I had a ticking, not ever sure what it was but it was very obvious at startup and probably decreased at engine warmed up.  I got a bottle of Lucas Oil Treatment and used about 1/8 of a bottle at oil change time.  From then on, it was MUCH BETTER.

I called Lucas and spoke to their Customer Service Department.  They assured me that their product is 100% compatible with Castrol Full Synthetic motor oil (if 'oil" is hte right word... LOL).

Hope this helps.  Let us know.  : )

iv read things that say the Lucas stuff causes oil to foam and ariate, iv seen videos of it in a little drill powered little gear set and at higher RPMs it causes it to foam like crazy!

I was worried about mine too. its hard to tell which one it is. injectors make a tick sound. you can take a piece of hose and listen to one end and probe with the other.

the motor has been making a knocking sound for like 30-40k and I just run a lot of good oil like amsoil racing synthetic (50 weight) or castrol/lucas. I just put in amsoil 10w40 which is a little thinner and it started knocking again real loud last night. the motor will probably only last like 1 more year who knows.

A cheap mechanics stethoscope can help you isolate where the "ticking" is coming from. The older Multec injectors can be a bit on the loud side sometimes...

Comp Cam's makes ether 1.5 or 1.6 ratio roller tip rockers for the 3.1 and 2.8

you will need the iron head style rocker studs to install those on an aluminum head 3.1
