Title: WTB: STOCK GM Memcals
Post by: TGPilot on December 07, 2006, 01:46:56 PM
If anyone has any stock GM MEMCals laying around that they want to make a few bucks off of give me a shout. This of course is the piece (normally blue) inside of the ECM that holds the programmable chip and knock sense circuitry.

IIRC the engine you run the MemCal off of needs to be from a vehicle with the same amount of cylinders.  so if Kenny wants TGP chips to burn they'll need to be from a V6 car.

Are you looking for TGP memcals or just plain v6 memcals.I have LOTS of f-body stuff.Mostly 85-89 MAF memcals.I've repined lots of MAF f-bodys to SD.I also have quite a few of v6 memcals that I've collected over the years that came out of 2.8-3.1 cars(olds,chevy,pontiac,etc...)lemme know...Adam

Adam,

I need MEMCals out of V6 GM cars so I can drop in a EEPROM, burn my program for the LG5 that's using a 7730 ECM, and get them to customers.

Are you saying there is a difference between the chip pin location on a MAF as compared to a SD car?

Let me know...Kenny

ALL memcals have a limp home mode program inside the memcal, totally independent from the eprom. So you could use any memcal as long as you never need limp home mode.Limp home mode is for when 1 or more sensors fail. When I burn chips for customers I ALWAYS use one for the application I am working with. Some memcals have the knock circuitry in them and some use an EST module mounted in the engine compartment.MAF cars use an EST module and SD cars have the stuff in the memcal(about 80%)l.As far as you question all the chip pins are the same,I was just referring to repining the 165(MAF)ecm to the 730(SD)ecm for F-BODYS.Done lots of that stuff  ;) later..Adam

Gotcha. Do you have any MEMCals that will "work" for the LG5 application?

Adam,

As many as you want to throw at me. I would like to have at least 10 on hand because it seems like they go in spirts of 4.

Let me know what you need ($$) for them.
