Title: 1990 TGP. black/tan w/ new trans
Post by: ZachS on October 04, 2002, 04:00:08 PM
Hey guys...

Just kinda feeling out for what I can get for my car.  I need something a bit more reliable at this point, and my TGP isnt cutting it for me.  In a month or so, I'm going to have to drive about 75-80 miles one way to work each day.  I love my TGP, but #1... I'm not sure that it can handle all of the driving, and #2... I dont know that I want to put all of those miles on the car.

It's a 90 Black with tan leather TGP.  98XXX miles
It's got a factory refurbished T-25 (before I got the car)
It's got a new trans from AC/Delco (needs a trans flush)
New rear tires... the fronts are still really nice.  Eagle HP's 245/50's
DIRTY K&N
No mufflers
No sunroof
Small front end damage.  Front bumper cover is ripped.  Although I can put  you in contact with someone that has a good front bumper cover for a GREAT price.

The rest of the car is really nice.  It screams under WOT.

I have a system in it also...

Kenwood KDC-519   Cd deck
Infinity 4X6's in the doors
Kenwood 6X9's in the rear deck
MTX thunder4122 amp
Bazooka TVB141 Triangle Sub with upgraded wire from terminals to sub
XM radio (Pioneer Tuner box with blitzsafe cable to use it with the kenwood deck)

System pounds really nice.

How much will you give me without the system...

How much will you give me WITH the system...

Car has a clean IL title.  I can basically meet anybody in the Chicago area.  I'm currently in Roselle.  I'm in the Bloomington/Normal area on the weekends.

Please email me at zachshaferz@hotmail.com  and I'll get back to you ASAP.   Thanks,

Zach Shafer

What are you looking to get for it without all that crazy stereo stuff & would it come with the factory items reinstalled & working?

I honestly am not sure how much I want out of the car.  Email me and make an offer on what you want (stereo/no stereo).

Pictures will be up in about 5 minutes....

Sorry about the other Grand Prix in those pics.  That is my old car (which my brother drove for a while)  Only other update really is that my TGP now has the clear tails like the green grand prix has.

thanks,
Zach

don't be sorry, actually it's kind of a nice comparison.  i just can't believe you want to get rid of such a BEAUTIFUL car!  are you sure?  i mean you might seriously regret it!!  do you really consider under 100,000 unreliable?  ecspecially after UTI?  i don't get it.  watch out man you might really miss this thing.  IOW - KEEP IT.  for life.  you have a beautiful car and you will miss it.  that's my take on it.
joshua - sans TGP - for now....(junker STE turbo in sight and if i can buy this thing i'll go into convulsions i'll be so HAPPY....my WTI project(ile)  :))  )

a chrysler dependable?  and for that matter a DOHC dependable?  HA!  i'd keep the 3.1 any day over those.  the 3.1 will practically last forever.  just my opinion (tastes even better with a grain of salt; as in no flame intended)

No... the 3.4DOHC because I know the previous owner.  He bought it new... had dealer always work on it.  Had timing belt replaced, spark plugs, plug wires, alternator, tires, and trans service about 1K miles before he sold it to my little brother.  My brother has had it for 2 months, and now he's going to lose his license.

So now I need to sell my TGP so I can get the Z34.  I feel very comfortable in the Z.  I love the TGP power, but I dont trust it 100%.

That is the reason for selling.  :(

There isn't very much I trust 100%.     I would think that the issues the TGP is presenting shouldn't be that hard anymore. If you don't romp on it (i mean if you had a chip and were going past 8psi romp on it, which you don't) you should be fine. Especially if you've finished school and won't have to go back and for 100 miles like before.  The trans issue was a tired tranny, not a defect problem. My brother romps on his and as such we have had romp on it problems. Any car can suffer from age related issues, turbo charged or not. It seems that some folks have problems with whatever car they drive. I also think that if you are selling your car to drive something else its going to be longer than a few months you'll be out of it, just from my experiences. Its good to get a car that has all its maintenence.

Not trying to talk you out of rectifying your issues, just don't go from bad to worse like I have in some situations.

Hey Guys...

Yeah... I know I'm going to miss my grand prix.  :(  The Grand Prix is a fun car, just not one that I want to deal with all winter.  It's not so much that I dont trust it... I just want to get something that I feel like I trust more.  I want to get a car, that I know what all has been done to it...  just like the Z34 my brother has right now.

If my TGP was one that Jeff M had previously owned or something, I good god damn and well that I wouldnt be getting rid of it.  I guess its the fear of the unknown.   :(

Email me with offers guys!  Please!

Have you tried posting on general wbody and 3.1 sites such as for jbody's etc? Most of us already have a tgp or 2 (or 3 or 4), maybe you'd have better luck on another more general forum.
