Title: wont rev above 3-4k???
Post by: scott0999 on January 10, 2007, 03:35:03 PM
im trying to help a1990cavalierz24 out with this.

he has a 3.1 turbo with tgp injectors, basically a stock tgp setup on his cavalier.

I burned him a chip with the AZRC code and egr deleted. everything else was untouched in the chip.

its revving up ok at first, but by 3-4k it cuts out and he got a rich code.

I thought maybe it was something in the chip, since I have 30# injectors I could not test it.

so he sent it back to me and I burned the bone stock AUAF code with egr delete.

hes having the same problem. I'm suspecting FPR is bad?

Has it ever gone above 3-4k RPM? What tranny is in his car...a T125? He is running the 7730 ECU out of a TGP or TSTE?

I think I know what the problem is...but I need the information first.

The TGP code has 3 rev limiters that I've seen. One is for park and neutral and the other two are for drive and reverse. One cuts fuel and the other one cuts spark(drive and reverse).Make sure he is not in park or neutral because the factory set up will cut fuel at 3000 rpms.Hope this helps.Later...Adam

Most likely the T125 P/N gear select switch does not give the 7730 the proper P/N selection signal. The ECU still thinks the car is in Park or Neutral and the rev limiter is set to 3-4k RPM. I have my laptop on a clients ECU right now and I do not like to look at different files during a tune so I can not give you a specific address to change. You may try just upping the Rev limiter...but the problem is going to be now that the ECU thinks it has a 4 speed auto connected to it and the TC lock-unlock points are most likely going to be confused also. That I can not say for sure...but it seems on first thought it will be a problem. I do not recall if there is a flag that can be set for 3 speed auto, 4-speed auto, or manual. I am sure there is a way around it if it is a problem...but I do not know what we can do without looking at the .bin and seeing what can be changed.

making some progress here..

the XDF I was using before "8F_rev2.xdf" had all the flags/switches saying something like "MASK FOR MALF FLAG1 - bit 7 - 12". which doesnt tell me much lol

I downloaded 8F_v1.2.xdf and its much better. I found a flag for "use 4 speed transmission" but thats it.

I was thinking about unchecking that, then copy all the TCC settings from the 3spd bin into the TGP bin. also increase the rev limit in park/neutral, but I think if I uncheck the "use 4 speed transmission" I might not need to do that?
