Title: closed loop
Post by: one_fast_prix on January 22, 2007, 07:51:41 PM
so my story continues with my car running like shit.  i started to datalog using tunerpro and according to it my car will not go into closed loop.

got everything to connect properly and monitoring some stuff however i can't datalog yet cause my car will not go into closed loop. let it run for about 20 min yesterday and replaced the 02 today and the car was plenty warmed up.
what the hell could be causing this? nearly every sensor is new on the poor z. i do notice the rpms are pretty steady around 750-800 until i press the brake or let off and they go crazy.

the only readings i can get at the moment are off the tunerpro dash:

BLM
120
INT
128
02
anywhere from 400-500
Map
anywhere from 20-30 i'd say

If it never goes to closed loop either the sensor is bad (REPLACE WITH ONLY GM 02 sensor!) or the sense wire is not connected between the sensor and the ECM. Check the inside of the 02 weather connector and make sire the sleave pin is still there and making contact with the sensor wire pin in the connector.

Which .ads file are you using to monitor on TP RT?

By the way your BLM/INT locks at 128 when in Open loop.

heres one more definition file you can try

that one you have should work, it just has optional wideband logging  :dunno:

I think that file you are using is for the WideBand 02 sensor. I am not sure if that will work with a narrow band stock 02 sensor.

This is the one I use regularly. Just right click save as this file and then load it to TunerPro RT.

Sorry Scott...I didn't see your reply.

tried that other def. file guys and voila.  finally acheived the all so mysterious closed loop i've been hearing about.  well i took her for a spin on the highway for a few minutes while getting all the syptoms recorded that are listed below.  i have the csv. file below.  i guess you need excel to look these over, which i do not have at the moment.  not that i would know what i'm looking for yet, my first datalog.

1.  bucking/stuttering/hesitation at certain throttle positions.  notice more between 2000-3000rpms and while i let off the gas a little from accelerating and then hold it steady.  that's when she does it and will go back to normal if i move the throttle again at all wether it be more or less gas.

2.  irratic idle- jumps anytime i press the brake or let off.

3.  while coming to a stop sometimes the car doesn't act like it wants to stall, but just completely dies without warning.

I also am slowly noticing that 1+3 seem to be getting worse.  now while cruising every once in a while there will be one single "buck" that comes out of nowhere and that's it.  goes back to normal.  and the car seems to be dying while coming to a stop more often.  when it started it would do it occasionaly.  now it's prob. like every other stop light.

I GUESS THE FILE IS TO LARGE FOR THIS FORUM.  HERE'S THE LINK:  http://www.v6z24.com/jbodyforum/viewtopic.php?p=998517#998517

In order for me to look at the log file to help you I need the .adl file from TunerPro RT.

edit* I love the "how to fix this" reactions you got on the other forum.  :icon_rolleyes:

i believe this what you need?  i had to compress it but the .adl is in there.

anybody???

well, paid attention to the voltage today and it sits at about 14 take it to cruising it's around 14.5-15. this is normal. starting off at the first light with nothing with the headlights on she goes crazy down to 12-13 jumps around coinciding with the rpms and dimming. then it's fine for a while on the highway and couple other stop lights. then pulling into my driveway, very slight incline, it stalls. it always stalls in the same spot. lol and start it back up and the volts go crazy in park without even without touching the brake, it occasionally locked in at 14 and idled nice, but for the next 5-10 minutes while i had it on, basically the volts and rpms constantly jumped around.

is this the alternator. do they give signs before they go. i thought if it was bad it wouldn't keep the batt charged all the time. i dunno. i can get it tested. can't they do this while leaving it on the car?

Sounds like a combination of the PMIII dragging the volts down, and needing the big 3 upgrade., unless you have already done that.
