Title: spark advance in datalogs
Post by: scott0999 on February 18, 2007, 07:23:01 PM
in my datalogs it shows 2 different things for spark advance. theres 'spark advance rel to TDC' and 'spark advance'

the on thats just spark advance shows more, up to 45* at WOT in 3rd gear. while the spark advance rel to TDC is usually up to 15* or so. does this sound right?? I thought there wasnt supposed to be that much advance with boost?

im kinda having trouble putting 2+2 together here

Just pay attention to the spark advance at top dead center(tdc)Thats the one that counts.15 degrees sounds right for a stock TGP spark advance table.I like a little more timing than that but to each his own.  :icon_mrgreen: later

ok thanks. any idea what the one that just says spark advance is? i have no idea where its getting that from because 45* at WOT cant be right? lol.. so it must be the TDC one like you were saying.

it sounds like I can up that to low 20's. I've heard thats safe as long as you have good octane

The other one is a TOTAL spark advance before the computer compensates for temp,load,etc..I have ran upwards of 30 degrees timing. As long as you have large enough injectors you don't half to worry about detonation.Just keep throwing fuel to it   :icon_eek:  and you'll be allright.Make small changes.I got to a point where I had to much timing and it slowed the car down. You just half to find that HAPPY medium  ;) later..Adam
