anyone in Colorado or anyone close enough to pick up want to get these things out of my garage? one is a longblock; it has ~159,000 miles and ran good when i pulled it out of my old Turbo STE. it has no turbo specific parts left on it besides the heads, water-to-oil cooler, and some of the turbo coolant lines. i haven't pulled the heads, oil pan, valve covers, LIM, balancer or timing cover off so if you needed to replace a bad LG5 engine you could just bolt on your own turbo specific parts then drop it in the car over a weekend and go. it does NOT have the TGP plenum, fuel rail or injectors, exhaust manifolds, crossover pipe, turbo, downpipe etc.
i also have another LG5 (shortblock only) but it will need to be rebuilt and probably require being bored .020 over. FWIW that one came from a Turbo STE with 110,000 miles. i also have a '00 3400 shortblock that needs to be rebuilt. engine spins freely and looks fine, but a bad LIM gasket took it out (probably a spun rod bearing).
make me an offer, pick-up only. i just want them gone! i really need the garage space.
fwiw i'll sell all three engines for $2000 FIRM and include for FREE a good running 230whp/337wtq Turbo 5-speed '91 Cutlass Supreme sedan in the deal with a ton of new parts/upgrades including any other 1st GEN W-body parts i have left (extra shifter with cables, 1.6 rockers, Addco rear sway bar w/hardware, 34mm front sway bar, NIB strut boot and jounce bumpers with GM strut cartridge tool, extra TGP intercooler and TGP intercooler fan w/pigtail, etc.)
:icon_razz: seriously though, i just want these engines gone. i do have one guy interested in buying my Cutlass but i'd have to deliver it. with or without the Cutlass i have no need for these 3 engines.

great, yet another guy that's all talk and no money :icon_rolleyes: :icon_mad: he agreed to $2150 delivered and now says "oh i sitll need to sell my '97 GTP before i have the money" yet in his previous PM he implied he had already sold his GTP.
anyways....i need these engines gone. my brother is having some cars hauled off soon and i'm probably going to be dumping the two engines that need to be rebuilt in the trunks of one of them, then keep the good LG5 as a "spare bullett" for my Cutlass. it seems i can't sell that car no matter what so i should just face the fact i'm stuck with it. ah well, i love it.
what would you want to deliever it to ontario.. i got the $$
no delivery sorry, i don't want to crate it up.

i meant the car and motors, mainly the car tohugh
I would be interested in the good running LG5, but I'm also in Ontario. Maybe if Jeff buys the car, the extra motor could come up with it.....
wow, to deliver to Ontario...i could do that but i'd need a plane ticket home considering how far away you are. there's no way i'm going to be stuck on the bus for 3 grueling days (been there done that - never again!). i'm pretty much set on $2000 + my trip expenses out there (basically gas money & two hotel stays). i obviously couldn't bring the engine(s) with though. we could also meet halfway - like say Des Moines, Iowa. then i'd be ok with a just a cheap bus ticket home. if you wanted the extra (good) LG5 maybe i could build a crate for it and ship it out at a later date but you'd be responsible for shipping costs.
i know you wanted to buy the car about a year ago for $1500....the car has ALOT more than $500 into it since then....more like over $1500. mostly a ton of new suspension/brake parts/upgrades and new tires, replacement turbo, KAZ tune, and lots of other stuff like a new primary fan, the new Walbro fuel pump etc. the car is much faster than it was a year ago and driveability & gas mileage has improved dramatically thanks to Kenny's tune. if you are interested i'd really prefer it to be paid up front in full but i'd be willing to do $1000 down + trip expenses and the remaining $1000 upon delivery.
if it doesn't sell i have my eyes on a cheap 140,000 mile loaded '92 Grand Prix STE to transplant the Cutlass drivetrain & its new parts into.
the block could easily fit in the trunk and the long block in the rear seat fwiw., i couldnt care less about the 3400, unless its got a 3400 starter then id take that or course.
what do you think your expenses would be?
the thing i'm worried about is that my car has coilovers. i could simply adjust the coilovers higher to keep the car from sagging too much, but i'm very hesitant to put that much weight in the car being that the strut towers aren't exactly designed by GM to handle the weight of the car not to mention two engines in the back. personally i think it would be fine...i could try it i suppose, but if there was any damage done to the strut towers due to that much weight i would not be responsible! it's just not something i could guarantee.
really i don't think it's anything to worry about i guess. gas mileage on the way out would suffer, and i'd have to take out the rear seats and strap down the longblock. i mean, think of two 300lb guys sitting in the back seat. what's the difference? i'll try it if you want. and sorry, the 3400 didn't come with the starter when i bought it (otherwise it would already be on the car lol).

what do you think your expenses would be?
that would all depend on if we meet halfway or i deliver the car all the way to Ontario. i'd really rather meet halfway.
it would cost me roughly $150 for trip expenses to deliver the car to Des Moines, Iowa. a bus ticket costs $81 through Greyhound (if bought 7 days in advance) and gas money would be right around $75. on the other hand it would cost you more in trip expenses to get to Des Moines. so the price of the car would be $2150 delivered to Des Moines, the same as i was charging the guy that wanted the car a few days ago (fwiw i would have been meeting him in Minneapolis and he didn't even want the extra engines).
on the other hand if i were to deliver the car to Ontario, it would probably cost me around $150 in gas, two hotel stays (probably another $150) and then a plane ticket from Detroit to Gillette which looks like it would be right around $275. that would mean the price of the car would be $2575. however you would not have to worry about getting time off work or trip expenses to get to Des Moines and driving the Cutlass back to Ontario. much less hassle for you.
i'll do either Des Moines or go all the way to Kitchener. i'm almost at my wits end about selling this car, and am VERY tempted to just go ahead and buy that maroon '92 Grand Prix STE i've been looking at. it would essentially be a maroon Turbo STE clone, only becuase it happens to be that color. i wouldn't put TSTE badges or hood louvers on it. let me know ASAP before i go ahead and pick this car up, becuase after that the Cutlass will no longer be for sale.
when ya get to Ontario Josh the beers will be on me :icon_biggrin:

i'm 3 days away from being 100% alcohol free for one full year :icon_biggrin: but i'll take a Mt. Dew
the more i think about hauling these engines with the more i don't want to do it. all of that weight in the rear of the car would be on threaded aluminum sleeves, which aren't really even that thick. also, i firmly believe there is absolutely no difference between an 'LH0' and an 'LG5' internally besides the Melling oil pump (someone prove me wrong) so what's the point. it would be a huge hassle getting them loaded in and i don't even know if i could adjust my coilovers up high enough to keep it from bottoming out (also having to remove the rear seat, somehow strap the longblock down so it doesn't tumble all over the rear seat area etc). the new KYB GR-2 rear struts would probably be shot by the time the car got to Ontario.
i'll sell the car for $2000 FIRM + trip expenses, but the engines really need to be picked up locally or shipped separately.
Whoops!
Sorry man, you can watch me drink Jeff under the table then....
yeah a half a beer would likely give me a strong buzz
anyway, let me know. i could deliver as soon as the deposit arrives if you want the car.
the good LG5 longblock is now sold.
i'm likely picking up a '92 Grand Prix STE pretty quick here - so my Turbo Cutlass may be getting parted out for this. i'll still sell the Turbo Cutlass but we'd have to work out a deal on the quick and meet up in Des Moines. otherwise i am just going to go for this STE. i have gotten really burnt out on trying to sell the Cutlass.

it has ~100,000 less miles and it's fully loaded. no rust, no hail damage, clean graphite leather interior (AQ9s), HUD, power moonroof, graphite leather, factory CD, and the interior is clean.....i am pretty tempted to go for this to say the least. the only problem is the body damage near the rear door which really isn't that bad or noticeable unless you get up close to it. the guy just wants it out of his back yard. all of the parts i spent money on for the Cutlass would go right on this car and i'd have it running and driving within a week. and no, i'm not trying to make a maroon Turbo STE clone out of it. i wouldn't add TSTE badges (as if i could find them anyway) or a vented hood. this STE just happens to be maroon and i just happen to have a Turbo 3.1 for it is all. i don't know what i'll do with the LQ1/4T60-E it has. probably just toss it or give it away to anyone that wanted it. i think it has some problems which is why it's parked in his back yard. probably timing belt or bad trans. as if that matters to me :icon_mrgreen:
the LG5 and the 3400 that need to be rebuilt are still available. Jeff, if you wanted to i could meet you in Des Moines with the Cutlass. i would be willing to bring one of the shortblocks with but that's it. two engines is just too much IMO. personally i'd go with the 3400 and buy some forged Wiseco lower CR pistons for it. put your GEN-II topend on it and it will still look stock underhood. you'd have more displacement, roller camshaft, better oiling system etc. i think that would be the way to go but it's up to you. let me know soon.
i'm going down to look at the STE today, nothing better to do. it might be following me home next week...
bump for the two other engines. i'll give them away and load one (or both) into your truck if you come pick them up.
2000 for the cutlass an meet where?
nevermind i'm keeping it :icon_rolleyes:
EDIT: i clearly stated that i wanted to meet in Des Moines Iowa (halfway). $2000 + $150 for trip expenses. $1150 would have to be paid via cashier's check up front, then the remaining $1000 i'd take upon delivery of the car. i'd be willing to bring one of the shortblocks with me if you wantted. i'm not sure if you were just messing with me or not but i'm trying to sell a car here and all i have gotten so far is BS from the beginning. if you want the car, it's Des Moines for $2150. i'll meet up with you whatever date you want. it's going to have to be done soon though, because if it doesn't go within the next week i'll likely be buying that STE and then of course i'll have completely different plans for the car.
