Hey guys,
We just ran a setup that got my blood pumping...and the owners too!
The truck is an 2001 24V Cummins 5-speed with an HX 35-40 Hybrid turbo, 300HP extrude honed injectors, Edge Comp Box (was set to #5 on the last run), 5" turbo back exhaust, intake pipe and filter, and a fuel delivery system he installed previously.
Have a look see....

I've seen a few bad azz turbocharged diesels. There are lots of them that will BLISTER our TGPs.I just can't stand working on them.I always get covered in oil/greese from head to toe and that shit stinks :icon_mad:
What I have the most fun with diesel trucks is the fact that I can double a man's HP and Torque for a FRACTION of what it costs to get a turbo gasser there. I can take a common rail 24V Cummins to 500HP and 1000ft/lbs for about $1600 retail.
But I hear you about the diesel fuel and oil smell. It seems to get in your pours and seep out for a week after you mess with it. :icon_rolleyes:
That guy with the diesel truck is a 4X4 Dually with 37 tires, 4 in lift.......he still gets 22.7 MPG also.
I've messed around with them since my old man had a Jetta. I've lerned with that car on how they work. Only mod I ever made was just advance the timming on the injection pump (if you call that a mod) and putting a pusher pump to the stock pump on the block to help it on my bosses 91 Dodge 250. It has the old Cummins with a intercooler.
Theyre preatty fun and economical. You can run vegi oil in them or frying oil :icon_eek:
If I don't buy a RX-8, I'll buy a extended cab 4x4 Dodge or Ford. I just don't feel for the Duramax.

A Cummins will handle more power adders than a Power Stroke could even think of! ;)

A 7500lbs truck doing 11's is not uncommon anymore! ;) To get there though you will be looking at a minimum of $5000 for a transmission plus all the go fast parts to make 700HP and about 1300-1400ft/lbs to the wheels.
Bring old crap back up..but dammm..
