Title: PE mode AFR tuning
Post by: scott0999 on March 11, 2007, 12:07:48 PM
how far do you usually have to lean out the PE mode to get it in the 11 AFR range? I have a wideband hooked up to a 3.1 with a t25 and TGP injectors. its still running about 9 AFR when I set the target AFR to 13

About what rpm does it start to go rich? How much boost are you running?Sounds like the upper ve table need to be rescaled.Find out at what point you are rich(RPM and MAP)and lower the values in that area. What I'm trying to say is when your ve tables are dead on your PE table will be more accurate.Like when you set it to 13 to 1 the wideband will read 13 to 1.Hope that makes sense to you.Adam

it starts boosting at 2800 and thats where its going rich too. ive changed the target afr to 13.5 throughout the rpms, lowered the boost fuel multiplier vs map, lowered the ve in the fuel ve vs rpm & map too.

it just doesnt seem like its actually leaning it out at all according to the wideband. its in the high 9s or low 10s.

I pulled a plug and to my suprise it wasnt black, just a dark brown.

another thing thats weird is now the idle BLM at 120. I lowered the fuel bpc vs egr from 105 down to 20 (not all at once, but ended up at 20) and the BLM didnt change??

something seems really wrong here. what else can I try?

thanks

Maybe a bad wideband?I have had it happen to me many times.Maybe a corrupted file? That happens a lot when using DIY ecu files(8F is a rare breed :icon_evil:).Even the ones you pay top dollar for are flawed sometimes. If your making huge changes and the car doesn't respond something is wrong with the program on the chip and or the ECU file you are using to edit it(corrupted in some way.)Good luck..Adam

its possible but it was reading ok at idle, and as soon as WOT kicked in the AFR dropped. I tried calibrating it twice but who knows lol

funny this is we did have the bin go corrupt once, but it was early in the tuning. it was showing the injectors as 1200# LOL!!! not to mention all the other settings were screwed. I downloaded a fresh bin, reburned, and it was ok.

I started making more and more changes and to tables I hadnt messed with before, and it just WOULD NOT lean out!

so I started getting kinda worried, erased the chip, and started over from a stock auaf bin. set the PE to 12.0 at 2800-5200 and 11.0 from 5600-6400.

the car ran great so we increased the spark advance 3* and called it a day

man this was a fun weekend

just wanted to do a little follow up on this

the problem was in the "fuel boost multiplier vs map" table.

the last 3 constants (180-200kpa) were set to 1.99 and thats what was causing the crazy rich. I was lowering the ones below 180kpa, but boost was actually around 14psig
