Title: Oil pump drive o-ring
Post by: TLOC on March 11, 2007, 06:31:09 PM
I tore apart the TGP to do this fix, no problems but the drive pump will not come out. Large channel locks, vise grips, pulling hard upward, it just spins, I can turn it by hand, is this normal? Any help? Also, can I remove the TPS and the other sensor(think it's IAC or MAP) to clean the TB with carb cleaner without any problems? Thanks...T :dunno:

I usually just use a thin flat head screw driver to lift up on it while using channel locks pulling at it from above.

yeah it can be tricky to get it out, but as suggested use a small screw driver to get it started, once it moves up a bit it will slide right out.  obviously remove the bracket and go to the dealer to get the brown oring.  I can't recall the pn# off the top of my head but they are sure to have it, they replace them on all the 3400s and 3100s as well.

10477565 for silicon o-ring. get it from the dealer as they only come in packs of five... should only be like a buck 40 or so.

FYI, per my factory Pontiac Service Manual: DO NOT allow contact of any type of cleaner with the TPS or IAC. Thought ya'll might want to know...T
