I took the TGP out the other day, its 62* here today, unusually warm for this time of year, but its supposed to be freezing again this weekend, just in time. :icon_rolleyes:
Anyway, this car I have has a little over 42k on it, it sat for several years before I got it 3 years ago. Its running like a champ now after a rebuild and everything, but I want to service the trans.
A guy I used to work with at the dealership told me $30 to drop the pan, change the filter, and then flush it with a machine. Fair enough, I just have to buy fluid and parts. The fluid is still nice and red, clean and everything, but I want to make sure its tip top, for if and when I actually push to sell it, which might be soon.
Question:
Should I go with synthetic fluid or stick with standard ATF? 42k, clean, I'm assuming not much metal shavings (hopefully). Never slips, doesn't leak, just shifts into reverse kinda hard sometimes, but I think I should have changed the mounts when they were out. Anyway.. anyone have input on this??
WOW 30$ for it???? where u at? they want over 120$ here at the Havoline place! I would just stick with the regular stuff im on 74k on original fluid, still bright pink, im prolly gonna change it here soon tho....
cash deal on his lunch break.. I've brought him some business, he's helped me out, this is a friend helping me out I guess you could say. I think I am going to switch to synthetic, but I'm not sure as of right now. Still a month or so away anyway.
i switched to Syn in the BlaZer FWIW
give it a try i say
well I know regardless of how its done the TC will still be full of fluid that is not synthetic, and I'm concerned that when they mix it will not be a pretty site. I don't know what I'm gonna go, probably just go with some top shelf ATF.. I'll see if I can get some suggestions from some trans experts before I decide.
