Title: DIY W-body engine tilter tool
Post by: mfewtrail on April 19, 2007, 02:33:48 AM
My brother-in-law and I came up with this ghetto engine tilter tool a while back.

The rod is ~5/8'' diameter and we welded a washer on one end of it and a 3/4'' bolt on the other end. You remove the dogbones and slip your bolts back into the dogbone brackets and place the hook on the right around the engine side bolt and the other hook on the radiator side bolt. Then you crank the bolt to the left to draw up the engine. It works great for when you're feeling lazy and don't want to slave the motor forward by hand(especially on inclined driveways).

LOL that's pretty creative I gotta say!!

I just use a ratcheting tie down, basically the same process just without that contraption.

Someone better get a patent!!

I've used something very similar for a long time, my dad made a home-made spring compressor and I use that, but basically the same.
