Title: 1989 Ford Mustang GT SOLD SOLD SOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Post by: TGP Nick on April 30, 2007, 05:22:44 PM
Well guys, I hate to do it, but I absolutely need to get rid of my baby.  I need to buy a work truck.
It is a 1989 Ford Mustang Cobra/GT.  Yes it looks funny, but that is the actual name of the model.
Anyway here are some of the specifics on it and the good:
5.0 H.O. V8
NEW Getrag racing 5 spd. manual trans.
110K original miles
Has nearly every option available for the year.
All options/accessories work.
Texas car, then when it moved up here to MN, it has only been outside from May to October- the rest of the year it sits.
ABSOLUTELY NO RUST ANYWHERE ON THIS CAR.
The car absolutely RIPS- I've never driven a car that is as SCARY fast as this one... This car is fast as hell!
My grandpa owned the car before I had it- he was always nice to it- always did the routine maintenance to it, synthetic oil run in it, etc.
Interior is nearly SPOTLESS- I carpet-cleaned the interior, and it is very clean, the carpet is in excellent condition, the seats are in excellent condition, no rips or tears.
My grandpa put in a BRAND NEW $2k Getrag racing 5 speed manual transmission in it before he gave me the car- about 2,000 miles or less on the tranny.
New catback exhaust put in it summer of 2005.
Since I've had the Mustang (May of 2006) I have taken great care of it- I maintain it and go over it with a fine-tooth comb regularly.
I really haven't done much in-town driving with it, but I do know it gets 25 MPG on the highway.  Some people may call BS on this, but hey feel free to check it out for yourself- it pulls it off!

The bad:
I let my dad borrow the Mustang for a day last summer, and he spun it into a ditch- luckily, it was a shallow ditch and only cracked the front and rear bumper covers- it didn't bend or break anything but the bumper COVERS.  As a result, the paint on the front bumper cover has chipped off.  Both covers can be bought for next to nothing- rather inexpensive fix.

Paint- as said above, the paint is chipped off the front bumper cover.

Exterior Cosmetics- it isn't in perfect condition, but it has a couple minor dings and scratches- could probably be fixed very cheaply and easily.

Driver's side interior armrest- no idea what happened to it- previous owner probably did something to it- looks like it was melted by something hot- I've looked it up, and it is $25 for a NEW replacement arm rest.

Other than those minor problems, this car is in AWESOME looking and running shape.  I really hate to get rid of it, but I need to buy a work truck.

Here are the pics of it:
Sorry I took the pics when I was halfway done waxing it so some parts are shinier than others  :icon_redface:

I am asking BEST OFFER for it.  I really need to get rid of it.  All it does is sit here at my house- I've put LESS THAN 100 Miles on it since I got it 14 months ago.  If anyone has any questions or comments, feel free to let me know!

Thanks
Nick

I started out asking $6,000 for it when it was in mint shape before my dad spun it :icon_rolleyes: .  Up here in MN, these Fox bodies usually go for $8-12K in good condition with close to the same mileage, so I thought $6k would be a fair offer.  Now that it doesn't look so pretty on the outside, I suppose I'd let it go for $4,000.  Other than the bumper covers on the outside, everything on this car is MINT.  It is a southern car, so the underside looks spotless, has a new $2,000 racing transmission in it, and the interior is spotless- has no rips, tears or stains anywhere- looks brand new on the inside.  I can post up pics of the interior if anyone wants.  I have gotten very few, very low offers on it (though I admit I have only advertised it here and on the w-body forum).  I'm thinking of going to the junkyard tomorrow and replacing both of the bumper covers, as there is one there exactly like mine in great shape there.  Ask any questions needed.
Thanks
Nick

LOL the way the sale is going right now, it looks like I prolly will still have it next spring.  All it does is sit around here- like I said, I've had it for 15 months now and have put less than 100 miles on it.  It ABSOLUTELY NEEDS to be GONE by the end of next summer though.

THIS CAR HAS TO GO NOW!  My dad says can't sit for another winter here and if it doesn't sell, it is going to the junkyard!  I DO NOT want to see that happen!  Someone PLEASE take this car!  Is ANYONE interested??

Alright I just took pics of the interior.  The interior is fairly clean- it has a bit of dust from just sitting, and the carpet has a little bit of dirt and gravel in it from people looking at it and sitting in it.  I carpet cleaned the carpet and upholstery 2 weeks ago, so otherwise it is very clean and spot-free inside, no rips or tears. I'm uploading more pics right now, so hang tight.

Ok here are some pics of the engine bay.  These were taken when it was raining outside, that is why there is a little bit of water around.  Engine bay is fairly clean and has NO rust or corrosion.

I don't know man.  I was asking $4,000 for it, since most stangs of this era are listed in the 4k-12k range, and 4k would be a STEAL for this car.

I can vouch for it...this car is very fast and ran really smooth when I went for a ride in it. Definately worth $4K atleast.

If I was a Ford guy, and had the cash, I'd snatch it up...but girlfriend says "NO", and bank just laughs lol.

how many posts did you make on that ford site before tring to sell the car? I ignore people on the dodge site I go to if there post count is low no matter how bad I want what they are selling. I have seen too many bad deals with people that just sign up to sell or more likely rip off people.

I'd imagine I probably have about 20 posts on there- they don't keep count of posts though, just your join date.  My join date is October 07, so I guess I'm technically a newb on that site.  The topic has like 1600 views and 52 posts in it though.  And yes people love to rip you apart on there.
