Title: Another TGP bites the dust..
Post by: pontiac6ksteawd on May 31, 2007, 04:57:58 PM
I copied this from another forum I am on. Just sad to hear..

So I'm delivering a front clip for a 62 Bel Air Pro Street to my
partner @ the temporary shop when I look and spy a rather ratty
lookin Turbo Gran Prix sittin across the lot. I mosey over and my
patner says it was dropped off this morning. OK, I give it a once
over. 1 tailpipe cover missing, the other badly bent, body kit is
complete but been in the sun too long and showing its age, interior
pretty dirty but possibly salvagable, pop the hood and the turbo
motor is still in place. Intake hose disconnected, crossover pipe
wrapped (looked like a kid did it), looked like there was a few oil
leaks, sad over all but still complete. So I go over to the biz owner
and ask whats up with the car and he immediately snaps "that cars not
for sale". Well I wasnt asking if it was for sale I was asking what
was to be done with it, scrap or otherwise. Then he informs me that
one of his mechanics (whom I wouldnt even let touch a ford or yugo)
was going to rip the motor and tranny out and put a "regular" motor
and trans in. But ABSOLUTELY NOTHING was for sale. Oh and the best
part, this guy doesnt even have a title for the car yet! But still,
why rip apart a really rare car you have no intention of doing
anything with???? WTF?!?!?!?!
OK, rant over, just had to vent,
Jeremiah

Sad isnt it :(

Yea, I know what you mean there's a TGP sitting in a junkyard down here in Florida. So there's another one that bites the dust, and if I had to guess what was the reason why it was in there probably the transmission. It even still has the stock crossover in it.

What do you mean Jimmy "I know what you mean" When you saw that car sitting there and saw all the front body parts you needed sitting there in good condition you probibly yelled SCORE then did a little dance before getting to work taking off your new hood and bumper cover and fender etc etc etc......

Well, what am I suppose to think when I see a car in the junkyard with a better front end than mine :icon_twisted:

But looking at the bright side, every TGP that goes down, ours become more rare.

Looking at a number of what, over 7,000 of them made, we have a long way to go.

I've seen sites in the past over and over trying to figure out how many are left.

Haven said that Nick, how many do you think are left, I think we would all be surprised to here that number

I seem to have that same problem down here. I'm having the worst time in finding a good mechanic.

If it wasn't for TGPvsTII I would've never finished the 5speed swap. I guess they just don't grow'em

down here like they do up there

Well Jimmy they all think JB weld can fix anything. I have a hard time telling them it won't. I wonder how many of my TIII's are left? I have 2 of 431.
