Post by: TGP Nick on June 03, 2007, 09:01:17 PM
New TGP/TSTE pictures thread!  Post up some pics you have taken of your TGP/TSTE! :icon_cool:

Most of my pics are from last year, but here are some of the good ones:

And this one is from over the winter... backed it out of the storage garage and let it run for a little while, snapped a quick pic....eew..snow :shudders:

Gonna take some pics tomorow. Will post them soon...

I raced one of those new Grand Prixs with a V-8. I didnt beat him, but the TGP did me proud by not letting him beat me badly... Will have to post about it in the race section..

Most of my pictures are old too and I don't have a lot of the good ones hosted anymore. I'm planning on visiting a few places and taking some new pictures soon. Anyways, I feel sorry for anyone still on 56K that is about to try to view my post...

Eurolite low beams...they're supposed to give a simulated HID look. They throw out a whitish light, but look blue under certain conditions.

The TGP is sorta in this one...

EDIT: Yes, I parked in a handicap spot(wanted to say that before anyone points it out)! That parking lot is at the local  softball stadium(UGA women's softball that is) and nobody was there at all. This was in the rear parking lot...it's a good ways from the main highways and the stadium + a huge hill blocks it out of view from any of the roads. That makes it a fun place to play around.

Awesome!!  It was worth the hour it took to download all the pics (56K)

Matt, what brand are the low and high beam bulbs you are using?  They look really awesome and really bright- mine suck... I always drive with my highbeams on at night and never get flashed lol... my bulbs suck!

On the other hand... today I washed my TGP, and it looked really stormy outside, so I put it in the garage.... it started POURING rain and hailing like crazy literally 10 seconds after I pulled the TGP into the garage.... talk about timing! :icon_razz:  So no new pics today for me unfortunately.

The low beams are "Eurolite" Xenon Crystal bulbs if I remember correctly. There are two versions of these(one is a higher wattage than the typical bulbs). I'm not sure which version I have, but I'll pull one out and check soon. I'm thinking they're the higher wattage ones because they're pretty bright. The high beams are Sylvania "Cool Blue" bulbs. They're really bright also, I love the composite lamps vs. the miniquads on my '93. I will be putting some different bulbs in my '93 soon, and if they don't help much, I think I'll resort to upgrading the headlight harness and running some of the higher wattage bulbs available.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that Eurolite also offers other types of bulbs that work well. My friend has some Eurolite bulbs in his car that throw out a white colored light. I think they may be "plasma" bulbs or either one of the other "xenon" lines they offer.

EDIT #2: I pulled one of the bulbs from my car and they have nothing but "Eurolite" and "55w" written on them. From pictures online, they appear to be the Eurolite Xenon "Fusion" or possibly the "Xenon Crystal" bulbs. The previous owner of the car installed these, I'll see if he can remember what they were.

I finished waxing and buffing the TGP today and took some pics- unfortunately I didn't get to take pics until after I drove the car 50 miles... oh well looks pretty damn good anyway.  NEW NEW pics- I painted up my new valence and that is on, and I now have new(er) foglights on the car.  LOTS of pics- took me 2 hours to upload them all and took up 3 picture pages on Photobucket!  I'm not posting up all of the pics I took, but there are still many, many pics.  Enjoy and feel free to comment! ;)

This is what the TGP looked like the day I brought it home, 1 year ago.  Man it looked rough.

Whenever I get bord or need to unwind, I go to the cemetery...everything there is quiet and peaceful. Well, I brought my camera, since the sky was kinda funky looking....hazy sunny...and I took a bunch of pictures of headstones and scenery...I then got distracted by the TGP and began the Cemetery Shoot. The car is seriously dirty, and I'm not being modest. I haven't detailed her in a4 days, so there's that thin layer of dust; just bare with me lol. Here's the link!

http://s42.photobucket.com/albums/e315/grinders_18/

Tons of them...the shoot ends when you get to the sunset pictures. By the way, some didn't turn out postcard perfect, mostly due to the weird lighting.

Some quick pics taken today.... I washed it up, buffed it and shined it a lil, and then I had my senior pics taken, some were with my TGP- I'm uploading them right now, they should be up shortly.  But here are some of just the quick pics I took before sunset this evening.

This one is my favorite- kinda blurry tho

Here is a larger picture of the window sticker.Add the vin to your collection, the mileage is 75xxx.This car is in mint condition. Its going to need some work but it runs good, shifts good and stops VERY good.Car has aftermarket rotors and a few other goodies here and there. The cold air kit is nothing more than a 2.5 inch piece of muffler pipe that has been bent to locate the airfilter underneath the car.

I kinda like it. The cold air intake came off my red TGP  :icon_rolleyes:  and will do for now.I will be changing it soon and I will not be driving it in the rain anyway. Figured I'd show two things I've done this past week. A friend made me three of these ASC/McLaren decals, and good thing because the current one is SLIGHTLY off...I'm going to scrape it off and redo it when it warms up again.

Thanks! My buddy made me them. I have one in black, and one more in white...though the white one I'll be re-using. On the rear window, I don't think it's look the best, since the decal is slightly curved...they're made for the angle of the windshield.

I have a spare black one if anyone is interested.

I dunno, I personally would stick with my grey, but I also rockked a maroon bezel until my grey one came, so up to you bro.

I took that using "color accent" mode on my Canon point and shoot(A620). I chose to accent the color gold, the rest of the picture is in black & white except any color close to gold(like the orange extention, the wood, etc. in the picture). I may actually take some decent pictures of the car tomorrow if I get a chance. If the red car was clean, I'd take group pictures...maybe I'll clean it real quick. It's covered in red dust from it being outside when I cut grass the other day. There are a few spots in my new yard where there's hardly any grass....instead, there's red dirt & patches of grass. That ends up creating a red dust cloud that will choke you out while mowing. :icon_redface: I have some fertilizer, grass seed, etc. to hopefully take care of that problem with. ;)

The license plate is the one I had on the car while I had it in Italy.

The small sticker is for the 503rd Infantry association (Army unit I was in at the time)

The bigger red one is for the Rocky Mountain Club Grand Prix (RMCGP) I am still a member but not active, the club has sort of gone down hill with some of its new members.

*Don't mind the dirtiness.* There are about 100 of my greasy fingerprints all over my junkyard coolant bottle at the moment and the rest of the engine is really dirty as well. I'll spend a few hours on it soon and get it looking a lot better.

91-93 coolant bottle and my almost finished CAI that I modeled after "flybynite's."

Close-up of the intake. I'm still doing a bit of tweaking to it. The portion on the turbo is a crappy press bent 90* bend. I'm waiting on my 90* mandrel bend to get here to replace it with. After that, I'm going to try to turn the lower portion of the intake so that I can turn the filter straight forward and place it in the open area behind the valence. I might need to add a little more tubing to accomplish this....OR I'm considering modding the trans lines so that I can lift the filter up an inch or two where it currently sits. Right now, it's turned sidways facing to the passenger side of the car and it's pretty low to the ground(maybe a bit lower than the valence). I'll try to get some pictures underneath and measure my ground clearance tomorrow or either later this week.  The tubing is 2.5'' in size by the way. I plan to paint it black and I might end up wrapping it with some heat wrap too.

PS: I realize the turbo to IC pipe is not clamped on to the turbo. I was still working on it when I took the pictures.

My dirty black tgp...driveway is a bit dirty too. :icon_lol: I ran through some wet grass & mud in my '93 Grand Prix and got it all over my driveway. I pulled the TGP out to wash it after checking the weather and seeing that it was supposed to just be "partly cloudy." I was planning on taking some pictures of the car at a few random places around my house, but it started raining right before I got started washing the car. :icon_frown: I guess I'll wash it later this week & take some new pictures.

I'm visiting MN for the week, so I plugged the battery charger in overnight the night I got home, went out the next morning, and she fired right up.

Today I ran the TGP again and took some pictures in the fresh snow.  Don't fret, the township doesn't salt anything out here, and they rarely plow anything unless we get more than a foot of snow.  She runs really strong in this cold weather!

Good to see that I'm not the only one that rocks plastic/vinyl floormats to keep my good cloth ones clean. I've been meaning to pick up another cheap set for my red car.

I guess I'll cross-post my dirty car in here while I'm posting...that muddy looking crap on my turn-around pad where I'm parked was the result of a cracked heater control valve on a friends car cracking in half and spewing rusty dexcool all over the place. :icon_mad:

The Cobra costs a lot more + is worth a lot more money, it only makes sense to keep it nice. Driving that car in winter won't really hurt it much if it's taken care of and washed off regularly. I mean don't get me wrong, I love the TGP's as much as the next guy, but you've got to realize that these cars aren't holding much value at all except to US....maybe another 20 years from now they might fetch something decent though. ;)

Nick you really ought to do some homework before you make comments hahah, 03-04 cobras in a snapshot first supercharged mustangs from the factory ever!  That gt500 has nothing on my cobra, my car came first and laid the groundwork for that car.  Plus in most tests the 03-04 cobra performs equally as well if not better than a gt500 while costing 20-30k LESS.  Finally dime a dozen?  How many do you think were produced?  In my year only about 10k were made and mine being black on black is one of only a few hundred.  The power potential of these cars is insane.  I gained over 100hp at the tires with BASIC bolt on's.  These cars are quickly achieving the GN and 96 supra status as some of the most powerful street cars ever put into the hands of the common man.  This car is for all intensive purposes a working man supercar.  The internals of the engine are all forged (pistons, manley h beam rods, crank you name it)  It is essentially a "built" engine from the factory which is why guys are putting twin turbo kits on these cars and making over 800 hp and driving them to work everyday.

Drive it in the winter over the TGP?  Yeah right.......

I appreciate it, but Jake pulled a set from his '92 B4U and they're mint.  :icon_mrgreen:

I'm not much of a fan of the hood either, but it makes him happy. lol

If it's original, it will have the deflector bolted to it on top in the center. The 91-93 style have the deflector integrated into the valance itself.

Title: Re: Pictures You've Taken of Your TGP/ TSTE
Post by: TGP Nick on December 25, 2009, 12:10:23 PM
Yeah it gets this garage all to itself because the garage door is broken.  The spring above the door broke, so that sucker is HEAVY to lift... so the TGP just sits in there because the door doesn't have to be opened very often.  Before this it had to stay in the polebarn to the right of the garage.

Not quite sure. I removed them from a low mileage 1968 Hemi Charger R/T. The ole timer said they were original to the car but who knows. They are 2.5" in and dual 2" out. If you would like, give me a call and I can order some that are very similar if not exact...  :icon_mrgreen:

On another note I would like to up-grade the turbo and I was wondering if you guys think this one will be a good choice...

Some old photos of my Red car. I posted several from the same day back in summer 2008 when I took these, but didn't post these particular images. I was looking through some old pictures on some discs today and came across the pics I took that day.

Click the images for full-sized photos. After you click one, you can use the "next" or "previous" little tabs that will show up above the pictures. Depending on your resolution, you might have to click the image again for the actual full size

New pics of the Black 90 I have been working on it slowly for awhile. I used the Rustolium lens tint spray to darken the lenses. When it came to the headlights I wanted to mix form with function and left the center clear so the beams of the lights would not be affected and it worked out pretty well. As far as the foglights they are now decoration until I decide to do something different.

Here is a pic I snapped this morning when I stopped to get gas. Finally seem to have the brakes working. I am going to hit the yards tomorrow looking for parts cars. It needs quite a bit. I think I am going to pull the front grilles, and the hood vents and maybe some other parts off it before I put it away for the winter along with the other toys. If I can get all the little parts prepped before spring it will be that much easier to paint. It would be nice to stumble across a complete parts car!

Sorry these pics aren't in very good color, it was cloudy and I had the wrong settings on my camera.  :icon_rolleyes: I live near a pier that stretches toward the west, so that'll be much more interesting in late afternoon.

I've been looking for some TGP forum that the previous owner pointed out, and I believe this is the site. Lots of good information and I've already found fixes to a few problems with the car just now on here. Nice.

So, can you think of a better 16th birthday present that I have to pay for myself?

Only problems are cosmetic (clear-coat is degraded along rear bumper and side mirrors) and convenience device related (Driver's side window won't go down, false warning lights, etc.), Leather only (no sunroof or CD), and just 72k miles. Paint is OK, but I'm picky about the mm-sized scratches to bare metal on the hood for some odd reason. Runs just fine. Cooling converted to run on R-134a. Anything that I can't remember which has broken has already been fixed. It's mine for $3000, and I'm a third of the way there, only because child labor laws have been getting in the way.

that thing is CLEAN.  Nice pick up!

All I used were ArmorAll wipes on everything and a carpet cleaner (+ScotchGuard) for the mats. Unfortunately, said current owner lives under some very big trees, with no garage and just our vinyl boat cover protecting it (I know that's a no-no because they won't let moisture out like cloth ones, but remember, my parents won't pay for a better one if the current one doesn't actually implode on the car), so the mats will always have small fragments of dead leaves on them.

Actually, I believe the carpet was colorfast towards the ScotchGuard and that that could explain why the carpets look so clean. Of course, they could've been just very, very dirty. And, of course, the interior smells like a drunk guy's because of the SG. More incentive to do the speed limit, because a 16-year-old in a red, fast, loud coupe that smells like alcohol getting pulled over? Yeah.

It was kinda nice outside this morning, but my parents were busy and couldn't ride with me to pick up the car until noon, when I had about 15 seconds to take a few good pictures before it was overcast again. It's been raining the past hour now, and I won't be able to get shots of it by the pier I mentioned earlier if this keeps up.

It was actually a lot dirtier on the outside when I first saw it. Like I said, the owner had nowhere to park but under a big tree. Lots of wildlife & dirt and leaves had a habit of liking the car, inside and out, but the cover we have for it now gets rid of most of that. Dawn wash, dry, clay bar (ICE Liquid Clay Bar), dry, Nu-Finish got a lot of the crap off. Previous owner parked it facing the bay, so that explains the clear-coat corrosion on the tops of the bumpers and the side mirrors.

Everything looks real good, but change those tire's back to a 245/50/16 unless your going aftermarket. A TGP just does not look good with a 225/60/16.

I think those are actually 215/60/16's(that's what the size visible in one of those pictures appears to be). Looks like the previous owner tried to match the tires to the stock diameter more closely so the speedo wouldn't be as far off.

I think that dial became a little more optimistic after the tire change, so that can't be it. He knew the width would be off, but he just wanted a normal all-weather tire.

The speedo will read 2% slower with that 215/60/16 size vs. the stock 245/50/16. Not sure if you're read this yet, but the speedo's in our clusters are commonly off(they read high). The HUD's are usually spot-on though.

The speedo will read 2% slower with that 215/60/16 size vs. the stock 245/50/16. Not sure if you're read this yet, but the speedo's in our clusters are commonly off(they read high). The HUD's are usually spot-on though.

That's precisely the case.

Are the seats done with just the usual leather/interior/whatever wipes?

Just make sure you don't fly out of the seat when you make a hard turn.

I snapped a few underhood pictures after cleaning up a bit on the red car. It has to look at least 10x better than it did when I got it(I have an old picture or two on my photobucket page). I still need to do a bit more cleaning, have more stuff to repaint, and will be making a few other changes that will improve the appearance some more.

The next picture is basically the same as above, but using Canon's "color accent" feature. It lets you accent one color and everything else is displayed in black & white. It's a pretty neat feature that Canon has been implementing into their cameras for several years now.

Another "color accent" shot.

The RED on the upper manifold really pops out and looks good.  How did you get your overflow tank so clean?  Bleach?

I cleaned the overflow tank w/ greased lightning shop wipes to remove all the grease stains off of it. I'll be installing a black plastic cover in place of that overflow tank as soon as I grab one from the junkyard. Going back to the hidden stock overflow bottle.
