I found a 91-93 Cutty Vert in my local JY.... it is white exterior with a black top, with black leather interior, 3.1 V6 and auto tranny, very good shape, just a little dirty....
MY QUESTION IS: This vert has a STB, but it has a 3.1 in it.... are the 3.1 vert STB's the same as the 3.4 vert STB's??
Here is a underhood shot of the Cutty vert... sorry for the crappy quality camera phone pic...

if you are asking if it will fit then yes. you should probably have bought it, if not go and do it soon or it will be gone
the one for the 3.4 has a notch in it for sensors i believe, that one does not but it will definetly fit.
I'll be going back tomorrow, but I wanted to ask here first...
Are the 3.1 STB's any stronger/weaker, bigger or smaller diameter than the 3.4's?

IIRC the 3.1 STB's were better than the 3.4 because they are tubular which is stronger than square tube which was the 3.4 style. I can't tell whether thats tubular or not in that picture, but I thought 3.1s were
Alright cool. I'll most likely be grabbing it tomorrow.
The STB's for the DOHC motor are completely diferent than the one you have pictured. Instead of just going up, and over the motor, the angle out of the strut tower, and follow the edge of the fire will to the other side, then swing down to the other strut tower. They kinda flex into the firewall I would guess if really stressed. The 3.1 STB's are stronger and more, or less, better then the DOHC STB's. Whether or not it actually makes a diference on our cars is a completely diferent story..
i had a 3.1 bar, it seemed very weak to me. i sold it in favor of the stronger, sweeter looking(IMO) buick bar
Well I went and got the STB today... it cost me $4 for it! I took it home, washed it up, sanded it smooth, and gave it a few coats of paint. Here it is:

I can confirm...he has a NIIIICEEE rock garden, and a nice house to match! Nice grab on the STb, Nick! If you can, keep your eyes peeled for one for me!
Thanks for the comments! ;) I'll keep an eye out for ya and see if I can find another STB. That is the second Cutty Vert I've seen in that junkyard! (The first one I saw was white/white/white, they crushed it right away :icon_sad: )
