Title: Bellows Welding Question (Yes, I searched, I promise)
Post by: GhrarhG on June 11, 2007, 09:11:04 PM
To bring up an old topic. I'm looking to repair my bellows, and I have the flexible couplings that I ordered from verocious motorsports. I noticed on my crossover that the one connection that came apart (the longer side) seems to have a 1 3/4 on the ex manifold side and a 2" on the turbo flange side. It's actually like a sleeve, the ex manifold side slides inside the turbo flange side, and the flex coupling is welded outside of that slip joint.

Here are some pics to explain.

The piece on the right actually slides into the pipe on the inside of the bellows (the last pic)

How have people dealt with this when welding on new bellows? One side fits inside the 1 3/4" bellows, one doesn't. I'm not afraid to cut and weld, but I was just looking for a bit of advice.

Thanks,

Jon

Hey. First, I hope you are able to find the answers you want, but at the same time, you may not receive an answer; it may be labeled a "trade secret". I highly recommend having Kenny (TGPilot) rebuild your crossover; not only is he pretty much the only person who does it anymore, but he does a PERFECT job!

Thanks Krenz!  ;)

The entire bellows including the center slide section of the stock bellows is replaced.

Alright, thanks guys. I kinda figured that's what I was looking at. I assumed that it was going to have to be cut. Just more or less wondering if there was a belllows arrangement that I had not yet found that would have been more simple. That's how it goes though, Thanks.
