as i mentioned in an ealier post, i have a lot of brake dust to remove and i was wondering what you use to get it off. I know i could use sandpaper but that would take forever, and i have heard of glass beading but i don't know how much that costs, thanks in advance,
what are you cleaning? if you are cleaning wheels, i would use a few cans of Brakleen, and maybe blast them at the car wash after that.

Simple Green is good for removing brake dust.
This may sound stupid but try to find some gas grill cleaner. I used some from wal-mart. Let it set about 2 min. and hose it off. It took almost everything off my wheels. Just don't let it set on there too long.
Repaint the wheels and keep them waxed and they will clean easier. Use a long bristled super soft car washing brush. No solvents.
thanks, for the reply i will have to try the super green or gas grill cleaner (probaly go to walmart and see which is cheaper) and let you know, i refering to my rims, sorry for the confusion, bty car will be fully repainted(tgp) in black metallic by in a couple of weeks, will be sure to post pictures, thanks again.

yes, i'm impressed with Simple Green too! Brakleen should be safe for the back of your wheels where there is no paint, but i wouldn't suggest using it on painted surfaces. Simple Green got my wheels pretty clean, i just sprayed it on and let it sit a minute or two, then blasted them off at the car wash. it even took off the 'cooked on' brake fluid which resulted from a bad caliper and the wheel getting really hot due to bad brakes. Brakleen *is* the ultimate tho if you want to get rid of brake dust on the back side of your wheels....hell....use both! just do all of the cleaning at the car wash and spray the wheels off really good and you'll be ok.

Don't forget, to avoid a lot of brake dust accumulation in the first place, install those Kleen Wheel, or Wheel Kleen, Tire Rack and others can get these, $30 pair will do up the worse/fronts, another set to do the backs. Only works on orginal crosslace rims though.................because it is hardly seen, if you had 5 spokes or, would look nasty!!! Also, use inside/tape weights when balancing new tires/rims only, to avoid ripping the clear coat with outside wheel weights, then when the Kleen Wheel runs into the inside tape weights, take a pair of tin snips or even siccors will work, to add a slit so the metal will move up over the tape weights. No other worries or concerns, so....do it :)
