Title: MBC question.
Post by: splhooligan on July 14, 2007, 10:17:16 PM
I had two of my "mechanic" buddys install a aftermarket boost gauge and controller on my car today.   I have the top gun 160 chip, my plan was to run 12psi but so far I cant get it above 9 psi on the gauge.  Also it seems as ive lost all top end power, the BOV is opeining at WOT and there is a fluttering sound when I let off the gas.  Any suggestions on what could have gone wrong?

The fluttering sound is a normal sound for a turbo.  ;)

If you've added a MBC that's turned up higher than the stock EBC is programmed for, you may have to adjust the BOV so that it doesn't open until the higher pressure is reached.

also, the fluttering shouldn't be happening with a BOV in place...

I would run the MBC off its own line if possible. Do you still have an EGR still on the car? Turbosedan put a real nice vacuum block where the EGR was and something like that would be able to give separate lines for a few items. He posted pictures somewhere. When the MBC starts to open the wastegate it could be dropping the PSI to the BOV not letting it hold the BOV shut.

It does feel alot more torquey down low just not as much power up top.

I f your using the stock WGA you won't see more than 8 or 9# until it blows open. Put a spring on the actuator. Theres pictures on here showing how to do it. Search.
