my car is running rough and seems to be missing...
what is a popular problem to cause poor performance and rough idle?
plugs and wires
there are lots of things. plugs, wires, crossover cracked, bad O2 sensor, I was missing cam lobe #10 in my engine, that caused a rough idle thats for sure.
bad coils, bad ICM, bad ECM, bad injectors, etc etc.

What he said...
Start with plugs and wires thou. Its the cheapest, and then follow thru with some simple diagnostics. Spark for starters, makeing sure that it is a blue spark, not orange or any other color, just BLUE. Or if there is no spark on a coil pack, it could be the coil or the ICM.
i should have specified better, i know to check all these things, i was hoping for a simple "these normaly go out"... but i got it figured out, i replaced plugs and wires, coils while i was at it, and it turns out 2 of the coils were cracked/blown out
fixed that problem... now to the lifter ticking problem...
p.s. im michigan certified in engines, brakes, steering, suspension, electrical, and engine performance, so i have a good idea of what im doing, just lazy lol
