I have a feeling my pump might be going, so I was wanting to replace it. I have the C302 injectors in there right now and other than that the only thing at the moment I have done is put a cone intake on there. But I do have future plans to chip it, maybe some head work, and if I ever got the money, I would love to get a new cam... but that's all gonna take time and money, and be a lonnnnng way down the road. I would like to get a good pump that would handle more power in the future as I might be replacing it anyway, I would rather just do it once now, than twice later. Would it hurt anything if I went with a higher flow pump if that flow rate is not needed yet, or would it only flow what is needed at the time? And also, I was looking through old post, but I could not find anything recent, so I was just curious what a good pump would be to get.
Also, isn't there a plate in the trunk that you can access the pump and sending unit from to change it without dropping the tank, I think I remember seeing that in the Haynes manual some time back.
Before you change your pump I would make sure it's bad. FP tester is about $20. It's a PIA to replace it and no there is no access from the top, Gotta drop the tank.
Somebody did a write up on here on how to do it. Try searching, I think it's a sticky.
Yes you can put a higher pressure/volume pump in but unless you are really going to mod your car (bigger turbo and injectors)a stock is fine and will support 300 + HP. It's a Corvette pump.
Lots of guys are using the Walbro pump. It's about your only choice as far a aftermarket. Most if not all the speed equipment manufactures sell the Walbro pump as there own brand. I personally am disappointed with them. They don't last at higher pressures. Maybe others on here
can attest to longevity at standard pressures.

sounds good, I can look it up, ya, I wasn't plannin on more than 300 really... didn't know how much the stock one could handle. I just want to add a little more pep to the car.
I'll just bring the car to my friends garage, hopefully he has time to test it.
There's no panel in the trunk, so you have to drop the tank. It's really not that bad of a job.
I did it myself in roughly 3 hours with a jack I just lowered it till it cleared the bottom and pulled it right out, My pump was good so I left it in there but the sending unit was so corroded. Changed it, lifted it right back in place finished straping it and hooking all the lines. Why your doing this job it might be a good Idea to go ahead and change the fuel filter :thumb:
already changed the filter out as it was the easiest thing and I had one layin around that I bought for my old prix and never changed cuz the lines were so rusted I was afraid of breaking or kinking them. There was a lot of crap in it, so it was a good idea to change it. It's gonna be a while til I can get around to doing it when I might actually be able to afford buying one...lol
What is the pressure that I should be getting at the shrader <spelling>, when I checked a couple weeks ago I had around 34ish and jumped up to about 38 when opening the throttle a little bit?
Key on, engine off, pressure should be between 40-47psi. With the engine running, the fuel pressure will be lower by about 5psi(or a bit more). If I'm remembering right, I had about 44-45psi key on/engine off and right at 40psi with the engine on in my TGP the last time I checked. If you do end up needing a fuel pump, check the common part numbers thread that is at the top of the page in the "general section." Get the part # from there and search ebay for that number, there should be some OEM AC Delco pumps listed that are a lot cheaper than what they go for elsewhere. ;)
