Hi there, most of you know me from the W boards fairly well, I've had my '94 cutlass supreme convertible for about 4 years, but over the weekend and the last few days, I've aquired a '90 TGP as a trade for my GMC Jimmy that I never drove anymore. It needs a trans, which he's throwing in with the deal, as well as a brand new valence, and a ton of other parts, not to mention a complete parts car (minus drivetrain) if I can get it, although I'll probably strip off a few things and have him junk it. anyways, i washed her up today, so here are some before and afters:
before tow home (sunday i think)

The paint looks a bit rough, but welcome to TGPforums! ;)
Thanks Kenny. I actually bought the car from God910, he said he was a member here a few years ago. nice guy, luckily only lives like 10 minutes or so from me :icon_mrgreen:
welcome to the forum, enjoy the hard work, hair pulling frustration, and eventual sense of accomplishment you will get when she runs.
looks like a good pickup for sure. congratulations. I have black envy.
Nice pickup! I'm so jealous of the black TGP! ;)
wow, a total change before and after.... So whats the price you got it for?? If you get the parts car let me know i can always use some spare parts.... Looks better than mine.. im jelous
good to see you joined the club
Yeah, the guy he got the car off of is a real douche bag. This is the time I've been waiting for... someone that will actually love the car as much as I did when I first got it. :icon_cry: I really was hoping that a W owner would end up with it, as IMHO, it's the prize of the Dubs (again, IMHO.) And I know a normal car person would get pissed and junk it. But this car comes with quite a few treats that make the car much more likeable (vacuum brakes, TG160 chip, JeffM xover, etc.) I can't wait for him to get it running again so I can go for a ride!
And I want to race it in the WRX! :icon_twisted:
When I saw that first pic it made me think: "Dueling TGP's"
BTW, WTF did you do to the red TGP?

yeah, ummm, I'm not sure. got it all the way to the end of the driveway, and something just fell apart in the front end, and by that time I didn't have time to try messing with it for too long since I had to get the trailer back. I'll have to come out with Ken sometime and just strip some stuff off it and then have the wreckers get it or something. I'm free after 5 tonight if you wanna give me a call.
Nice score! Like R Dubya said, enjoy the **fun** times ahead. You will learn so much about that car...maybe too much lol. But, eventually, you will get that sense of accomplishment he was talking about. It happens to the best of us.
A man and his TGP...it's a beautiful thing!
i kinda figured when you mentioned the tranny had a hole blown in it whose car you were getting
i was about to pull the trigger on it last year and had crap come up that sucked away my monies for said car, however things worked out in the end and i'm going to pick my 90 up saturday.
funny how the truly serious gen1 guys usually end up with a TGP after it's all said and done.
hah, i registered in january 03(back when i had a tgp motor in the lumina sedan) and this is my first post.
Oh, and where the hell is my Jimmy? That car will be gone by Monday, so you better hurry. It'd be one thing if it was sitting in the back yard all shitty and ugly, but it's right there in front of the house and I need to park there. I'm taking the cutting torch to it on Saturday or Sunday. I'll give you a call tonight.

ok, cool. basically I want the hood, wheels, and really that's it, plus the trans and other crap you had in the garage. I can come get all that crap tomorrow if you're free. I'll even help you cut up the car

Oh, and he didn't get that one, it's still here, and now that I'm finally running out of stupid projects it may take center stage as soon as my WRX motor Swap/GT35R/FMIC swap gets done. (Hoping for ~450 AWHP on pump gas, and high 10's, add race gas and meth/water you're staring down the barrel of damn near 600 AWHP. :icon_eek:)
I'm going to be finishing up my fuel rail mounts for the smaller injectors, and installing a 4T65 E-HD in it. I'm going to be gutting the shit out of it and see just how low in the 13's I can make the stock turbo go. ;)

Hey Jay...I am a dealer for Snow Performance Methanol Injection if you want me to get you a price for a kit on your Sooby.
A friendly but competing shop here in Colorado Springs has a 10.1 sec STi at 5800' above sea-level. He is running Meth injection as well as a few other goodies.

Hey, it's faster than stock. ;) Thanks for the offer on the Snow kit, I'm going to be using the Hydra Nemesis stand alone, and they make a pnp kit (Called the Hydramist) that I'll probably use, but if I decide to go another route, or pick one up for the TGP I'll let you know!
Yes, I'm guessing you're talking about Revolutions Tuning? The car is not actually a shop car it's owned by Steve Tasca (Scuba Steve on most Subaru forums) and to my knowledge the fastest it had run is a 10.99 at 129 (This is also actually in his sig on NASIOC.) But not sure if he updated it or not. That's wicked fast for sure.
The best part is he's running the same setup I am. ;)
Yupper Revolutions "tuned". Scuba Steve has put some coins into that car.
I thought I heard a 10.1...but I may be mistaken. I am in the domestic market so my Import news and knowledge is mainly hearsay. ;)
The GT35R setups are finally starting to get some street cred. thanks to people like Revolutions and Steve. They were touted as a dyno queen setup and not able to hit 10's. People are starting to shut up about it finally. ;)
HI MATT!!!!!
Crazy K. some of you know who I am, some don't. You'll all learn soon enough. LOL
OWES NOES ITS KEN!!!
Stop whoring up my thread!
I brought a claybar and meguiars cleaner wax over today... and spiffed up that TGP. Best looking non running TGP I've ever seen!
I have only seen 7 turbo GPs 3 TSTE's and 4 TGPs... And I would like to create a database for TGP VINs
for those Who don;t know I'm mainly on W body, and am a CS guy... specially on verts. I would like to turbo convert one of mine... but not badly enough to dismember a living running car.
The TGP VIN Database is already taken lol...mfewtrail I believe has ben collecting VIN's for hundreds of TGP's...maybe he's into the thousands?

Honestly... I WILL find them all. Mfewtrail gave me everything he had... and I gave him 4 I 'discovered' within an hour of him doing that.
thats off topic. I hope to have a resolution to a current issue by next week that is halting my VIN project. I will post a seperate thred on it when it is appropriate.
HEHEHE MWAHAHAHA!!! You'll never get mine!!! LOL

Yes he will. ;) I probably already have yours anyway. I don't have very many VIN's as of right now. I would have about 100 more right now, but lost those from not backing up files on my computer a few years ago. :icon_redface:
Here's what I have so far:
'89 TGP's - 34 VIN #'s
'90 - TSTE's - 31
'90 TGP's - 137
I *might* have 3-4 repeats due to having partial vin numbers. I'll figure that out later when I have more VIN's though...
I think Ken got all 3 of mine. I'm not sure if I ever gave them to you Matt. Ken, if you don't have them let me know and I'll make sure you do get them.

yeah, I think Ken snapped pics of all 3. if not, i know mine is in there, and next time I'm over I can get the other two if need be.
New updates:
Still have no spark. New ICM fixed a fuse blowing problem, so I probably have a bad CPS or injector or something. Anyways, Ken stopped by and we claybarred and waxed the beast:

It's been awhile since it looked that good.
yes I got all 3... and the one in the yard in muncie.
this weekend.... project VIN is supposed to be undertaken. this I hope to be a start.
Not unless you checked my car lol...mfewtrail didn't have it, and Jeff M. doesn't have it. lol...maybe someday I'll give it up...I'm stubborn. ;)
Nice Turbo GP!
So I'm thinking more and more that I might just track down a 282 and go that route. A little more work, but since I'll have to put another tranny in anyways, I figure why not? Now to find one. I think I know who has one, though, up by my parents, too

You bought Jay's, didn't you? I even PMed him last night to see if he still had it, knowing that he didn't but hoping it was backed out on. I remember you talking about it now. heck, sell it to me for cheap? You still have to finish your swap on the 91

Nice! I'm going to guess that's a cell phone video?
By the way, off topic, and please don't take offense to this. Your voice sounds like the voice of the guy on that cell phone message/forward who screams about having ay porn on his cell phone LOL. No trying to offend.

yes, cell phone vid. it was the easiest, and since it was only a 9 second clip...
and I dont care, that's funny, although I don't know what youre takling about!
You're lucky...CHRIST I've gotten the vid from 4 different people. Can your cell receive videos? If it can, pm me your number and I'll send you it...it's great and sad lol!
Running TGP's FTW! If you ever want help on it I'll be glad to help... as long as it's out of my driveway. ;) You gonna try to swap that tranny in? I can get that tranny rebuilt VERY cheaply, it WILL go out, but if you wanted to put in a known good tranny you could go that route. I'd be rebuilt with a non-turbo 4-T60 rebuild kit, so it won't hold the torque forever, but it'd last until you could get the other one built. I'm betting we could get it rebuilt for $300-$400 parts and labor. Let me know if you want me to call my buddy. If we can find the right parts (IOW, upgraded clutches etc.) I can get the tranny built for ~$200 or so labor. I'll have to get a quote if you want, but it'd be an idea. If you want the 5 speed parts, I'll sell you all mine for cheap, even cheaper if you help me pull it all out. Just remember, the tranny has a large hole in it, so it's no good. But everything else is good to go.

Heck, I'd love the 5 speed parts! I've been debating doing the swap since I'm gonna have to get a tranny in anyways. I'll see if I'm free tomorrow and maybe stop by, if not, I know I'm free on monday.
Oh yeah ,the only reason for no spark was a CPS that had a huge crack all the way around the center of the thing
That is SO f*cking weird. :icon_eek: I'm wondering if maybe some water go in there (could have even just been condensation) and frozen or something :icon_question:
I'm doing the 4T65E-HD swap so I won't need any of the 5 speed parts, and removing all the stuff will give you an insight on installing it. ;)
Gimme a call and swing by!
