Title: Good turbos that I could find in the Yard.
Post by: Mark Brownfield on October 25, 2002, 12:12:44 PM
I have a 89 S-10 that I swapped a 305 into.  I was thinking about putting a twin turbo setup on it.  What kind of car do you think I could find plenty of that would have a good turbo?  What would be a good turbo to use?
It is trottle body fuel injected so I was also thinking that I will probably have to change the MAP sensor.  Any input will be appreciated.
Thanks ahead of time.

If I were to make a twin turbo setup, I would get T3s off a Thunderbird/Cougar with the 2.3 turbo.  You have to get one off an auto though because the stick ones use a smaller turbo.  These are the most plentiful turbo you could ever find in a yard, plus the a/r is probably pretty good for twin turbo setup on a smallblock.

grand nationals T type buicks.......any thing but a chrysler Turbo......

I would say look at ebay and get a couple of t3's and they even have TT headers for 350's from time to time and the headers would work on a 305

and that would help alot...T3's if you get some that need new bearings cheap send them to Turbochargers.com and they rebuild them for 275

Hope that helps...

What's wrong with the Chrysler turbo's...they are still Garret T3's.  And those headers, they are made for putting a turbo on a small block?  Is that all they are called, TT headers.

no they are twin turbo headers......

chrysler Turbos are Prone to burn out......unless you go with the 2.5L Turbos....

I would say find a set of Turbos from ebay just t3 or t3/4's and if I find the guy who makes the headers I'll let you know....

Thanks...Do you know about me maybe needing to go with a different MAP sensor or something?  I'm scared of what the computer is going to think.
