Title: Anyone change their fog lights?
Post by: dogbone on November 03, 2007, 06:38:47 PM
I was wondering if anyone replaced their fog lights? Mine have yellowed pretty good, can you still get them from GM.

Has anyone tried to clean them?

Supposedly I heard I HEARD.....brake cleaner works, though I cannot recommend it. I've also heard that it may damage them, so someone else throw their input here.

meguiars makes a plastic polish #2 in a white and red bottle. it works excellent, but you have to do it every several months. it really cleans it up and makes it clear again. my dad always used it on his boat.

Yeah don't use brake cleaner... I tried using it on a crappy old foglight I had sitting around and it destroyed the foglight.  Don't do it.

Yes don't do the brake cleaner. I have the maguiers plastic polish it works well and leaves a nice shine but I found mothers aluminum mag polish seems to get the yellow off better. I use the aluminum ploish first then shine them with the plastic polish. And like posted I do them every few months. The plastic polish also works well on the tail lights.
