Got the red brake light coming on for a second whenever i press the brakes. They seem to work fine but im worried something might be on the way out. Any ideas?
Here are a couple things to check:
1. How many presses of the brake pedal does it take to make your brake pump to run? It SHOULD be 3-5 presses before the pump runs. (you will hear a noise, that is your pump running.)
2. When you step on the brake pedal and hold it down (like at a stoplight) does the pump cycle while you are holding the pedal down? It shouldn't cycle while just holding the pedal.
If either of those two symptoms are true, your brake accumulator (the black, round thing below your PowerMasterIII brake master cylinder) may be on its way out. It is easy to replace though, just screws into the master cylinder like a light bulb.
