90 TGP Well anyone have any ideas,Went to put some boost and all i got was a sound like a q-jet opening and no get up and go.Whats going on? anyone got a answer.didnt checke out the turbo to see if its froze up yet .Also where i can get a rebuilt?
What kind of intake setup do you have? Is it the stock airbox or a filter on the turbo? If it's a filter on the turbo, it may be overboosting.
check for hoses loose at turbo outlet, intercooler, etc.
The air intake is stock.it runs fine just not alot of power.I will check what you have told me. I think the turbo is not spooling at all.I got a line on a remanufactured turbo for 525.I think its a good price its by a co. named adp.

THe only real way for a turbo to physically not spool (requiring rebuild) is that it is locked up. Meaning it own't spin at all. A turbo can't spin freely, but not physically spool up unless some external control is keeping it from doing so.
Because you say you get the qjet sound, your turbo is probably just starting to build boost, but somthing is keeping it from continuing. Need more details. IE does the boost guage indicate boost, any check engine light, RPM when you hear the noise, no boost in any gear, how does it work if you remove the air hose between the turbo and the air box, is the wastegate rod stilll attached to the turbo. The stock airbox can clog rather quickly causing problems with boost, or the air tube suckign shut.

Well i fixed the problem, turns out that the 3 inch boot from the intercooler came off the intake. That was the sound i was getting, causing no boost. Thanks for the help guys. That was the cheepest fix on this car. Also the hold down bolt on the tube from the intercooler was not attached letting the boot slip out.
Glad to hear that it's fixed!
