Title: Gen III Heads
Post by: GPChief on October 30, 2002, 10:08:16 PM
Is anyone running these?  What model or year 3.1 do they come on?  Are they a direct bolt on?

Thanks,

the GEN III heads are used on the 3100's and have better flow than GEN II heads....gmperformance parts lists the better percentage flow(the GEN III's from them are listed as better shaped cylinder heads or something. GPXSS aka Chris Williams has swapped those heads onto a 3.1 MPFI and has a list of what all you need to change on the na 3.1's anyway, I'm not sure if they will/would work on the 3.1 TGP engines, maybe someone else can chime in and answer for me

EDIT: the gen III's are on the 94+ 3100 SFI's

According to GMs "Chevy 60-degree V6" write-up, the Gen III (P/N 10218168) have an increase of 0.040" in intake valve diameter and a reshaped port for a flow improvement of 16.7% @ 0.450" of valve lift.  The exhaust port has been reshaped into a "D" port configuration for a flow improvement of 31.7% @ 0.450" of valve lift.

There is another head configuration available as well, I think it's part no. 10054884 (Not sure of this).

Am currently planning on using my stock heads and increasing valve size on both intake and exhaust, along with porting, polishing (exhaust), 1:6 rolles, stronger springs, undercut valves, & some other tricks.

:drinking: Twalt, I'll give you a little advanced info that Jeff really doesn't want me to let out yet as he is still perfecting the packaged release... Jeff is working with a set of TGP heads that flow as well as Gen III heads and they will need to be used with the 29lb injector setup (I have a set sitting next to my computer, and they are sweet!!!)... but please don't email him requesting these parts yet as he is spending all his time testing and tuning the chip for this setup and not answering emails which he was spending 6 to 10 hours a day doing!!!
