Title: Radiator problem
Post by: turby on October 31, 2002, 08:32:14 AM
Last year I had my radiator recored. Everything was fine until recently. The drivers side tank is leaking pretty bad out of the seam, up on top. Is there any way to fix this or is it a goner?

This is on the tank itself. What are the tanks made out of on the TGP radiator?

I didn't know they were plastic! I'm talking about where the upper radiator hose goes in. The seam of that tank, just above the inlet on top of the radiator.

that tgp radiator is not plastic!  I am almost sure its aluminum.  Its pretty heavy compared to my griffin unit but contructed very well.  IMO  though hardly worth $1600+.  One thing i really don't like about the stocker tgp radiator is the fact of the trans fluid which is extremely hot going in and out of your radiator creating more heat for the radiator to disperse.  They should have either ran the lines straight to a higher capacity trans cooler or just ran two smaller units.   I bypassed my tranny lines so they go straight to the trans cooler.  Next I am going to install a larger B&M unit.

If its the high connection on the radiator you should be able to have it soldered back on... I think.. Not sure.. I know my low coolent sensor flange broke and i had it solder back on..  it was 10 bucks.. i would take it to a good shop and see what they think.. that is a good tadiator shop... KCP...
