Is there a stamp on it saying its a T25? It is stamped a M24, but I think thats the group, I am sure it is a T25 but is there someway of telling which one it is?
It will have .68 AR stamped into the turbo if its a T25.
Mine has A/R .80 on it, good or bad?
MINE ALSO HAS M24 WITH A/R .80 STAMPED ON IT BUT I WAS TOLD ITS STILL A T-25. I'D LIKE TO KNOW IF ITS NOT.
Nick's is a 1990 TGP....maybe the 89's had different writing on them? I'll check in a bit.
i am rebuilding mine right now. it is a 1990 and it says A/R .80 M24 i ordered a kit from the g pop shop as recommended by others on this forum. i have the kit here and it says T2/T25 DYN/SEAL KIT. so it seems that a T2 and a T25 must be very similar.
Mine also has A/R .80 M24 on it, and I also had mine prefessionally rebuilt by GPop Shop. I dunno Nick, maybe yours is a different turbo? It was rebuilt wasn't it? If so, maybe it was just replaced?
I'm looking at the bill for my rebuild done at TEC Turbo Engineering Corp in Colarado, the TB25 cartridge #431876-5029 was $301, The core assembly (core chra) $100 and the turbine HSG T25 AR .68, part #430609-0123 $157.
Maybe some of these part numbers will be useful.
This was done by the previous owner.
.68 AR is for the turbine side. .80 AR is for the compressor side
YES! Thank you, I KNEW that too! I'm not firing on all cylinders right now.
My turbo isn't the original turbo, it does look a bit different from the oem turbos.

Got any pictures of it?
This is about the best picture I have of mine at the moment...

Pretty sure mine, like the others here, has "M24 and the .80 A/R" written on the compressor side.
My 89 is exactly like that.
WHILE TAKING MY TURBO OUT THE INSULATION WRAP FELL APART. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE TO GET ANOTHER
ONE? :fluffy:
As far as I was aware, that's it...once it's gone it's gone. I'd appreciate other people's input on the insulation as well.
I think Jimmy spent a lot of time tring to find a new wrap and couldn't find the OEM ones new or used. I did see a decent used one on ebay a while back but the options are basicly buy some aftermarket wrap and wrap it up. I think Jimmy has this down to a scirnce with how many times we have had his off. Unwrapped it will melt things like the trans cable and add alot of heat to the powermaster III

Nope. Nobody gets to see my engine bay
It's true. Nick's bound by the code not to show his engine bay.
I tried to open it up once, got my hand on the release lever, and he Captain Insano'd my eyeballs.

As far as turbo blankets go, I've heard good things about the blankets "Boost Logic" sells. They go for around $150. I'm not sure if they will fit our turbochargers or not though. They sell two different sized blankets from what I remember. There's usually some blankets on ebay for about $120 shipped that look similar to the boost logic blankets, but I don't know if they are as good. I saw a thread on ClubGP where two guys had purchased the ebay blankets and took pictures, they looked pretty decent. If my turbo blanket falls apart soon, I'll be searching for a replacement...
