If you could change ONE thing about the 3.1/2.8 engine what would you change?
What I would change is the way the valve cover is integrated into the lim to make a seal. I know it's a 60* engine and all, but there's a way and GM was just to cheap to make it that much simpler to work on. Some day when I get filthy rich I will make it happen. :icon_lol:
While it hasn't affacted me, I know it affects many other 3.1/2.8's, so the lifters.
Probably fix the oiling issue to lobe 9/10 onthe cam. Too many people have lost cams.
Besides that, it would be simply allow the motor to rev higher, and hit a redline like the DOHC, but then again, that would totally change the design of the motor!

Yea I thought of that one too.... Although if you can make power down low and keep the R's down it'll last for a looong time.

If you fix'd the oiling issues to make it rev higher, you def need to change more than one thing (lim, uim, tb,exhaust manifolds, injectors, head ports, tune ...etc)
Sure I'd change the manifold design so that the engine produced more HP instead of all torque the engine is not square too much torque and not enough HP they need to compliment each other.......and I'd give it a roller valvetrain with a forged crank/pistons so they can handle some high boost levels.
That is not the question, please edit you post to reflect the subject. Thanks!

x2 that worries me.
Also, it would be nice if the heat soak issue was fixed.. its soo hot in that engine bay!

An aluminum block with a more efficient intercooler would help in that department
I don't own a TGP but if they had a bigger TURBO I wouldn't be having so much trouble talking Jimmy into one.
For the guys that want a bigger intercooler look at the thread Kenny wrote about his shop being in a magazine he installed an alcohol injection system on that car in the article to bring intake temps down. Devilsown makes nice kits and it can be used to either add the fuel you need or shoot a little to bring intake temps down like a bigger intercooler would do. http://www.alcohol-injection.com/forum/ This is also what I want to talk Jimmy into instead of the bigger intercooler and all the plumbing work involved. It also would maintain a more stock appearance if you hide everything. Here is a link to the dodge site I go to in there alcohol injection section http://www.turbododge.com/forums/f59/ I don't know if it will let you view not being registered I think it should. You can get an ebay intercooler cheaper then this but not a spearco.
Hope I didn't get off track here.

intake desighn which they fixed with the 3*00 motors.
