Occasionally my TGP doesn't start, I had problems over the summer and replaced the map, injectors and fuel filter. idk if it is just coincidence, but it seems to only do it when I am under half a tank, but it has only done it twice since I put it back on the road Monday.
In the morning it doesn't give me a problem, but when I went to leave school today after the car sat for about 5 hours or so it didn't start, it cranked over fine and sputtered a couple times like it wanted to start but didn't. I turned the key off then back on and waited about 5 seconds or so and after doin that a couple times it started no problem....
Fuel pump maybe, or coils?
There are a few things it could be.. Check your fuel pressure first. If that is good, check your CPS and ICM. CPS is fairly common to go bad.
Pumps usually work or don't. If they are going bad they will be hard to start but will after a bit until one day......they dont. Coils and or module will do weird things. If it is your original coils and module I would replace them with one form a later model just to be sure. You can get them at the pick a part pretty easy off a 3100 or 3400 these days. Much better unit.

Hmm... how would I check the CPS?
And I have a bunch of coils that maddux sent with his box-o-stuff so I may try them to see if that does anything, maybe I will take the ones outta the Bu as I know for sure they are good.
Well, you don't really check it. Once you pull it out, you may as well replace it since it's a bit of a bitch to get at. With a cool engine (trust me), reach behind the engine, and find the middle spark plug wire...keep moving downward from there, and you will eventually find a wire going into the back of the block: the CPS is bolted in there with this wire coming out. I forget the size, maybe 8mm?, but if you take it out, replace it since it's relatively cheap and saves you that much of a headache. Most times, they won't even look bad, but will be. And BE CAREFUL removing it, since other have broken there's off in there...I've done two of them, and haven't broken either.
My TGP does the SAME thing, let it sit for 5 hours and it doesnt wanna start and can take 3-4 times before it will catch. Iv replaced the injectors and ECM. Im also getting piss poor gasmilage, i wonder if that could be related or not....
FPR
Injectors
Fuel Pump
ECM
most likely culprits, I believe. My TGP used to do this but I'm pretty sure it was only because of a shorted fuel pump wire, which ultimately led to the demise of my car.
I have the same problem. Car starts great in the morning. But if I try to start it after its been sitting an hour or 2, its a pain. I am leaning towards leaking injectors, but I dont know.
